I mean it’s a stretch of the imagination maybe, but not impossible. There’s definitely wackier things that happen that don’t hold up in the laws of physics as we know them to be.

2024-07-21 07:33:31 +0000 UTCThe kiss with no "excuse" behind it. No hiding behind the pretences of transfering water or mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The only sham in this kiss is that it's delivered by a man. But it's all in Xena's control. And the idea of "I wanna kiss you." and "I will" and Gabrielle accepts. This scene was both sentimental and hilarious at the same time. Autolycus was the first one to know that Xena and Gabrielle were best friends with benefits. He was the witness to them just starting to show their feelings for one another and acting on their desires. Friends evolving into lovers. It’s probably the most memorable moment in all of ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’.

2024-07-21 07:27:05 +0000 UTC“So what you’re saying is Xena is inside of Gabrielle? 😏” Yes, and it does make you wonder why she didn’t just do that in the first place if it was always an option to control her body. I put it down to that she didn’t want to put Gabrielle in risk of danger but figured it was worth the risk when it came to the high stakes of Velasca getting the ambrosia. You’ll find that’s a common occurrence. Xena leaving Gabrielle out of the plan in the excuse of protecting her from harm. Cute but condescending. Gabrielle can more than take care of herself now. And this is something Xena would have some struggle with accepting about Gabrielle fighting. So yes, Xena and Gabrielle are clearly more than friends now. But whether this makes them an official couple is debatable. Now they’ve established somewhat what the nature of their relationship is, the show gets better and better from this point onwards. What I really like about their dynamic going forward that a lot of people find frustrating today is that even if their relationship is not explicitly sexual, it is overtly romantic. Especially emotionally. And it really works. It works that their chemistry and intimacy is more emotional than it is physical.

2024-07-21 06:43:57 +0000 UTCThank the gods you’ve finally got to ‘THE QUEST’. Xena is many things as a TV show but it’s regarded as THE OG WLW TV show the most. It’s THE FIRST, and in a lot of ways, THE ONLY main characters WLW love story from episode 1 to the last. That’s 6 seasons long. And the reason why it was able to achieve it? It was never main-textually canon so it flew completely under the radar of straight people. But please - don’t let that put you off because I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t matter at all. And even - in a way - it actually really helps it be better WLW representation than anything canon ever will be. Even better WLW representation than WayHaught. And I’ve seen for myself what that WLW couple does but I will always have in the back of my mind each time I watch their scenes or engage in any talk about them, that ‘Wynonna Earp’ WOULD NOT if Xena didn’t do it first. And that’s kind of a catchphrase we Xenites have when it comes to this. “Xena Did It First!”. You can even buy Xena merch that has that caption all over it. 😄 So yes, in a way, Xena did WLW representation in a TV show first because it’s really up to you whether you see it as a WLW love story or not. I can tell you many do to this day regard Xena and Gabrielle as the greatest WLW love story in TV art/entertainment of all-time, main-textually canon or not. I’m so excited for you.

The show is unfortunately confined by the network contructs of the early 90s time, but they do their best to show that what Gabrielle & Xena share is LOVE...in all forms. Here gabrielle & xena finally acknowledge that there's a romantic component to how they feel with that kiss. Took Xena dying twice for gabrielle, but hey some are slow learners lol. Also major kudos to Bruce Campbell as autolycus, always a joy having him in an episode. He was also unexpectedly incredibly compassionate about the intimate moment he witnessed between xena & gabrielle and didnt even bring it up to xena later.

I understand you have so much on your plate though, trying to do that, AND everything, you gotta cut where ya need to lol. Either way, I really appreciate you watching this show, "it be close to my heart, that it be" lol. This damn show helped shape my perception on my morality, my individuality, and my life. Lol. Yea I know, it ain't that deep, but.... there's still things, decisions I make with Xena in mind lol.

2024-07-21 03:33:09 +0000 UTCLmao, yes this was considered "a win for LGBTQ+" everywhere lol. they did what they could for representation in the 90s, they were really limited by the studio execs, it got better as they got to the 2000s. By then though you had a fairly good grasp of what the show was getting at. I will say, that until I fully understood what the show was trying to get at, it kinda messed with the sentiment of a "heroic death" and its level of meaning for me personally. Don't get me wrong, Xena will always be my Hero, but yeah, lol. As you continue to watch you will see what I mean. The next one though. I think you will really enjoy. Also it's before the next episode to watch a Hercules episode, but honestly, unless your watching Hercules, I don't think it's completely necessary, they give a very brief explanation. Lol, the ambrosia magically appearing in her tities is kinda just one of the several things we just accept, lol and watch for entertainment value, LMAO.

2024-07-21 03:19:49 +0000 UTCIt's a little unfortunate that the episode fell a little out of sync with the reaction, after the technical difficulty, so it was hard to tell when exactly you were seeing the most famous moment in this very popular episode. But it seemed to go over well, anyway. ... I love Iolaus showing up. It felt like Gabrielle getting to be with "family" after the death of Xena. The only flaw was that he should have traveled with her (possibly planning to go to Hercules) until the Amazons showed up; otherwise, she would still be alone against whoever else might try to steal Xena's corpse. But whaddaya gonna do? ... The "pirate guy" XD Autolycus returns! Always good news. ... Too bad you didn't have time for Herc, but this should make things interesting. ... It isn't clear why Gabby didn't just order the Amazons to stop the funeral ceremony when she realized Xena was in Auto, but, then, this was an unusual situation. ... So, you've officially got a new fave.
