I'm always proud to recommend this show solely based on how well those two complement each other. Sure, there are several other reasons that I'd recommend it; but I've rarely found this same level of chemistry between two people in any show.

We learned a little bit more about Xena's past and it tugged at my heart. You can see the pain in her face a lot in this episode. And that final shot?! Ohh it's so good, but so sad. I'm soooo excited for the rest of this season!

I noticed you never reacted to Renee finally being in the main titles. You watched the whole thing. Did you not realize that she only had an “also starring” credit in Season 1? She’s officially a main character. Practically a second lead character. As it should be. ☺️

This is a great season premiere, and it gives us a deeper look at Xena and her history, and big emotional moments with the revelation of Solan. (And Borias, her former lover, we also learn of.) I personally love the entirety appropriate detail of Dagnine mentioning Herc, since it's the obvious and logical next step if he kills Xena (which he doesn't, of course.) And I really like the super mutant centaur Dagnine becomes. Great episode, and I thought it might resonate with you, as a mom. 👌🏻
