I just got around to rewatching this after a loong time and Holy Hera! I had no idea Antony Starr had a guest role in this! 😂 That aside, not a terrible episode. Just an random adventure with Xena taking on giants haha! I'm quite certain Xena was not mentioned in Sunday School when I was younger, but I'm glad the episode told us the whole truth. Xena history will always be canon in my mind, heh heh. I liked that the show enjoyed dabbling in all kinds of religion through the ages. Well, both shows actually now that I think about it! The whole David/Gabrielle scene I was like NO- Gabrielle HARD STOP! But the following scene with Xena was great and made up for it. Overall alright. But I recall this season having sooooo many better episodes. Next! 😁

2024-06-07 19:30:23 +0000 UTCYay, Nice surprise. This episode is pretty mediocre to me, so agree I preferred the 1st 2 of the season. The show usually does a great job of mixing Xena & Gabrielle into well known historical/fictional events but keeping them the focus. This didnt seem to gel as well. Seemed like Xena & Gabrielle were brief side characters popping in and out of David & Goliaths story instead of the focus..excited for the run coming up though!

Are you thinking perhaps of Petracles in A Fistful of Dinars? ... Anyway, um, yes, I would say that there's a fairly good chance that David will become king of the Israelites. 😳 I'm sure the presumption at the time was that virtually everyone would be at least somewhat familiar with the story of David and Goliath, which is why the name of Xena's giant friend was such a big reveal. ... This episode, I think, is not quite as good as the first two, but it's still a winner, and it's always interesting when followers of the One God show up. ... It's a neat twist to display a sympathetic Goliath, while still having David as the hero.
