Yeah. As Ari said, this was made during the writer strike in 2007/08. Right before the recession hit (whee.) It was actually really cool how they did it...the three acts were released first online and hosted by Hulu through the Dr Horrible website for free. After all three parts released...it disappeared for a week and then came back to release on iTunes and DVD. All proceeds from those sales paid the crew and cast...who did the project without pay in order to avoid crossing the picket line. There was no external production company, as Joss Whedon used his own company to pay for it. It was a lovely ray of sunshine, despite the subject matter, lol!
