Ok? I just didn't recall the disclaimers ever being discussed, which, of course, doesn't mean it didn't happen. I simply don't recall it ever coming up, so I thought I'd share as it was part of the whole Xena experience. It was not a critique.

2024-06-30 05:29:15 +0000 UTCI don't know how they managed to pull this off. Lucy has an accident and the series had only been on for what--a year? I mean that seems like some that could have negatively impacted the future of this show. But they still managed to pull off quite a few amazing episodes in this "Lucy Recovery Arc", I'll call it. Callisto had only been in 2 full episodes prior to this (not counting The Greater Good), and it seems to me like Lucy and Hudson already had a pretty good feel for each other's characters. They were each so wonderful! And of course Ares just being his usual dirt bag self. π As far as other reoccurring characters, looks like Theodorus is gone for good--and it's always good to see Mom and Joxer. Can't wait to see how this all plays out again! I also have to say I think it was real big of Hudson and others to step up like this.

2024-06-29 18:48:33 +0000 UTCYeah, sheβs a great actress. I love how you can tell which character she is just from looking at the pictures. Hudson is freaking talented man. Xena always has that stern looking focused face and steely glare as if sheβs looking behind the person rather than right at them. Hudson demonstrates that remarkably in her time playing Xena. She even gets Xenaβs war cry right and thatβs difficult to do.

2024-06-29 17:05:54 +0000 UTCYou don't watch the credits, so you are missing out on the disclaimers that started appearing midway through season one. They are silly. Here is the disclaimer that appeared in the credits of this episode: "Intimate Stranger" Argo was not harmed during the production of this motion picture. However, she is undergoing intensive psychotherapy to help her work through her resentment and feelings of distrust toward Xena.

2024-06-29 15:56:13 +0000 UTCHudson Leick! She plays Callisto, but now she is playing Xena, because that really is Xena in Callisto's body. And, as you suspect, the injury to Lucy Lawless was responsible for certain changes made to certain episodes, including this one; originally, Xena was going to get her body back at the end of this episode. There are great performances here by both Lawless and Leick.

2024-06-29 15:01:33 +0000 UTCHudson Leick plays Callisto. She does a fabulous job here portraying Xena. You're right, this ending was the first of many clever ways to make up for Lucy Lawless having to be out for 2 months with a broken hip/pelvis. They did a lot of rearranging of episodes too. This episode (body swap) is also the first of many common themes you'll see between Buffy & Xena. The writers of Buffy re-imagined/took inspiration from a lot of themes in Xena. It's fun to notice them if you watch both shows.
