Tabletop role-playing games are almost always a lot of fun to play although it would be a mistake to compare the average group’s sessions with the kind of professional theater performed by the likes of Dimension 20 or Critical Role. Another thing to keep in mind is that there are hundreds if not thousands of TTRPGs out there covering a wide range of genres and playing styles. Dungeons & Dragons is just the most popular one, mainly because it was the first of its kind, gained strong name recognition even outside the hobby, and in later years was owned and marketed by a big company.
