The Ladder Chapter 17

Hello everyone,

Enjoy the chapter and do not forget to comment your honest thoughts about it. Also, posts will not drop at midnight my time, but instead be in the evening for me. It’s just way more convenient to be honest.

Thanks and enjoy!

Wow, amazing chapter. I think they will definitely lose a battle or two, now that they've made this political change to appease Jon Arryn. Basically, Petyr has become more important than his liege in the war. It's similar to how Mace Tyrell always took credit for Tarly's accomplishments during the rebellion in canon. It has to be a huge shot to his ego to admit that Baelish has done what he could not. The Stormlords are jealous of him as well, so the blood magic is a convenient way to cast him out as a leper. If it wasn't that, they would find something else to focus on; in addition, he's 14 years old! I'm excited to see what happens next.

Have to say, I like your plan.

Pedro Eugenio de Lima

I posted this before reading the chapter and now after reading all I can say is wow what a plot twist. Petyr is now 13 so I guess all I can say is it’s time for reflection and to pump the brakes a little bit. He’s still very young and he has time to work his way up slowly. My plan if I were him would be to continue with the Rebellion and attain as much glory as possible regardless of his position. After the Rebellion is done return to the fingers and focus on making it impregnable. Once the Fingers is shored up, leave for Essos and found a mercenary company send the coin earned back to the fingers to supplement his plans and cover himself in glory overseas. Once he has established a powerful enough band possibly make a break for the Stepstones and attempt to conquer them and hold them. The return to Kings Landing ala Daemon Targaryen style and become a new Lord Paramount. Due to his Mercenary ties and high manipulation skills he should have been able to befriend the Three Sisters Lys, Tyrosh and Myr having done contracts for them and present himself as a stable neutral ruler of the Stepstones. Develop the islands, root out the pirates and become the premier trading hub between East and West.

I’m thinking Stepstones for Petyr after the rebellion. Robert loves a good conquest and he yearns for war, Petyr is his closest friend and I don’t doubt that with his high manipulation skills he could persuade Robert of the pros of conquering the Stepstones.
