What I am working on?
Added 2019-03-19 20:46:58 +0000 UTCHi Hunters,
I just wanted to give a quick update on what I am currently working on between the Monster Hunter Monster Manual and the Guide to Monster Hunting.
Monster Hunter Monster Manual
The only upcoming update on this at the moment will be the addition of both the Leshen and Ancient Leshen from the witcher 3 crossover event. There has already been someone who created all the Witcher 3 monsters including both of these creatures, but these will be closer to how they act within MHW. Expect this in the next week or so.
Guide to Monster Hunting
Those that are not on discord might have missed a little discussion on some of the work I am doing with the guide. Below is a few of the additions since it was first created and what I am working on now.
New Item: The carving knife provides those hunters who don't want to be proficient in survival. This item allows you to add your proficiency bonus to carve checks, which would normally use the survival skill.
Creating roles for the party: I am currently working on creating roles for the hunt. As it stands we have the:
- Trailblazer, the leader and decision maker of the group who decides where to go or where to send the scout.
- Scout, sent out ahead of the group to scout for resources, enemies, ambush locations and in general what they may see in the next area they travel to.
- Spotter, using your passive Perception, you are the lookout for the group while everyone else is concentrating on their tasks at hand. Your job is to keep the group safe.
- Artisan, (still an idea, needs more work) you are the cook, you provide meals at the start of hunts that may provide benefits to the group on their hunt. (recipies are still planned to be created in the future) You are also able to find ingredients that may be useful for more powerful benefits.
A way to create a more natural hunt: Creating a hunt can be very time consuming for a GM. I am working on creating a more dynamic system where the party searches for a number of signs as they travel across the hunting area. During this time they may run into some minor complications, such as skill checks, minor hazards, and much more; major complications such as hard or deadly encounters, cursed shrines, deadly hazards, etc; or some sort of benefit to the party, such as a shrine that grants a boon for the hunt, an old hunters cache, and more.
Creating a more natural hunt is the one I am working on the most at the moment in addition to my normal patron work.
Thank you all for your support!
