2021-01-30 07:14:12 +0000 UTCI am so happy I’m not the only one who realized that that is why they’re called “the Avatar” Like nobody ever picks up on that lol What I DIDNT pick up on was how when they’re in the Avatar State they do have Raava’s cadence and echoing voice Also I think that when the Avatar is IN the Avatar State, they’re able to bend more than one element simultaneously. I think the only time that theory is not correct is in the Tales of Ba Sing Se episode Aang is air scootering and then also is earthbending at the same time to make the zoo. I guess maybe because air was his original native element, maybe he had enough affinity for it? Idk, but Anyway, barring that I think that’s the case. Wan could only actively hold one element at a time. Raava holds it for him and passes through him so he can switch between them when he needs to. So when an Avatar is in the Avatar State, Raava is holding all four elements herself and using the human body she is inhabiting as, well, her physical avatar to channel those elements into so they can do what needs to be done

2021-01-26 11:20:10 +0000 UTCThe reason for why Wan could bend in the spirit world was that he had entered it through a portal and therefore was there with his physical body. If you just meditate only your spirit goes there hence why you can’t bend the elements. So as long as you go through such a portal you can bend in the spirit world. Great reaction!

2021-01-26 11:06:30 +0000 UTCI would say learning bending techniques is different than actually gaining the ability to bend. The “original bender” animals taught forms and techniques but the lion turtles grant the actual ability.

Cause I knew that the anticipation of waiting would have been worse had I watched the first 1 waiting for the 2nd to come than just waiting for both to be out and watching them back to back! I've read that the two lovers learned techniques and HOW to bend from the badger moles so they could create the tunnel system but that's not how they became actual benders - as that is a skill that is someone is born with. Like how they showed Wan learning how to properly firebend from the dragon

You should give yourselves more credit :) It also explains why the Avatar will cease to exist if they're killed in the avatar state. I also agree with Kenny that in this world everyone reincarnates. It's just that the avatar can know about their past lives because they have Raava inside to access them.
