Korras airbending was already mentally blocked by her. Generating the elements is both a mental and physical task. Zuko looses his drive in aangs series and it essentially blocks him from bending. This is the same but more extreme. Amon takes bending by bending the chi paths in the body, my personal assumption? He creates a tiny blood clot in the brain. We don't know the physiology of the humans in avatar but there must be something that's affected on a cellular level to allow for bending.

Please just be patient with the coming season as it isn´t that well liked by many people. It still is great, so please just try to be open minded and wait for it to get better again (also the animation studio changed in the first half of the season and then the old one comes back again in the second half). 2020-12-27 18:44:41 +0000 UTCThat's really interesting I thought they hinted at how Amon took bending when Katara says "her connection to the other elements have been severed" but I couldn't figure out how Amon would be able to access that connection. it makes sense that he could do it through a blood bending/chi blocking combo. Sort of how Aang unblocked his finale chi by being throw onto a rock right where he was hit.

2020-12-27 18:33:48 +0000 UTCI’ve always assumed Amon used blood bending to perform a sort of permanent chi block and Korra being able to airbend was either from him accidentally unblocking that chi or just her doing what she had to do in the moment (like toph metalbending). Either way I loved it.
