It's weird but as I've gotten older Toph is one of the characters I found myself not liking less but finding a bit overrated so I didn't have the same reaction most people do here, still its nice seeing other people enjoy her appearance.

2021-05-05 20:35:10 +0000 UTCSomething I realized while rewatching this episode a week ago was that Toph was literally the perfect person for Korra to come to. I get how Toph can come off as being too harsh and not compassionate enough, but I think the big focus should be on what she is saying. She stated what Korra's block was and her fear of getting hurt again if she was the Avatar. Something I also noticed how this whole time, Korra has been surrounded by people who remind her that she is broken because she is reminded of the people she is "disappointing" and people who have been waiting for her to get better. Toph is different, because Korra came at a time where she was like, "yes i want help and I'll do anything to get better and pass this block" and Toph is simply being like, if you want to get better you have to give your all, and Toph isn't going to skirt around as to what the issue is. She will tackle it head on and I think Toph was who Korra needed this whole time. Someone who is hard on her, but also telling her to her face that she isn't getting better for XYZ reason. Absolutely loved Toph in this season more after I realized this after rewatches. I know you guys will love Korra's journey!

You guys pointed out in the beginning of this episode that Mako has for the first time expressed that Bolin has a job of importance. I can see how that might mean a great deal to him and unfortunately (like a lot of abusive relationships), it makes it difficult to see past the good right now.
