i know this is like 2 years late but i have to get it off my chest hfdghjd the line lance said "we thought we were being supportive" was exactly the same as something bow said in one of the first episodes of the show. And idk if you realised just How similar the two were lmao (though u might've cause there is a 'lance=bow' counter so maybe im just rambling for no reason)

Bow's father is a war veteran who is embittered by violence, and the other is just hyperactive. If every parent who had a "I totally understand my baby's hobbies and interests!!!" was treated like that was being abusive, we'd call CPS on 80% of even the most wholesome of fictional parents. 🤣

I was sure she had made him up at first," which got an "Oh my god" from Montana and "I was fine until the comment about making up friends." Here we have George say to Glimmer "Gotta be honest, we thought Bow was making you up", which gets "aww, what great parents". These guys have been gaslighting Bow for...what? Sixteen, seventeen years? George is openly prejudiced against princesses, Lance consistently talks over anything Bow says...how are these arseholes "such great parents" while Castaspella "should go to therapy babe"?

2021-11-15 04:55:53 +0000 UTCI've thought about this too! I have a few headcanons, but I wish they gave us more information about Bow and what led him to stay at Bright Moon. We also have to keep in mind that this world doesn't work the same way that ours does so it leaves so many possibilities. Also, he has so many brothers that probably studied somewhere, and so he probably knew exactly what to say to his dads to convince them. And since they weren't trying too hard to pry and get to know the real Bow, they might have just assumed their "shy" smart boy had everything figured out and were trying to respect his privacy, not knowing that it was actually pushing him away.

Why did they not know anything about a school they were sending Bow to?!? Is communication all around their planet that defunct, that they don’t know what’s out there past what they see? Then how would Bow have discovered anything about this boarding school that does not exist enough to convince his dads!?

It was really interesting because I too have learned something first my parents thought would give me a great future in life, but I never really liked it at all except for my friends I found there :) it takes a lot to say something like that to your parents, so proud of Bow and you two ;)

2021-11-13 03:44:19 +0000 UTCGood episode. And while I agree George and Lance are amazing as is the representation, even She-Ra had issues with representation from execs. George and Lance were only allowed because gay parents are considered safe in TV networks as shows and films done them before without pushback. Stevenson and the rest of the crew struggled a bit with getting the representation they want, which is why there is "plausibility deniability" in a lot of the relationships. Not that the dynamics aren't strong and leading audiences there to where plenty see it from the beginning. Just that the representation on the show had to fought for by the writers and I also think that is why it's so damn good too, because the writers were fighting for it so was going to get it done the right way.
