So even after this episode I never saw Catra as a villain, an Antagonist yes, but not a villain, a villain would imply that she is inherently evil, she’s not, but she is a person who has been hurt and abused for much of her life, and reflects that onto the rest of the world. She’s felt nothing but rage and pain, so that’s what she inflicts upon the world.

I have been so blind/deaf towards this obvious name similarity. Angella compares Glimmer's character with that of her father Mica(h) in the armory. I heard the names so often throughout the series. Only here did it occur to me that Mica(h) and Glimmer mean the same thing. They refer to a group of substances that "shine faintly". Mica from Latin micare and Glimmer from German glimmen.

I am so so SO loving your journey through She-Ra!!!! The original was one of my favorite cartoons growing up as a kid and this one is a great adaptation and reimagining while still taking some elements from the original. I can’t get over how much Montana’s cartoon in the intro looks like Perfuma I think we need a Montana Perfuma cosplay and Kenny should do Seahawk!!! You guys are wonderful and adorable and I get so excited when I see my Letts notifications pop up!!!! Keep up the great work!!! Can’t wait for the rest of the series!!!

I’d love to you see you guys react to an older series with explicitly stated or coded queer characters and see how it holds up compared to the newer representation. I’d love to see how it holds up. That’s why I treasured shows like Sailor Moon growing up, even tho they tried to edit out the gayness in the eng dub I still knew. Idk if you knew but look at Netossa & Spinerella’s necklaces closely. That’s my favorite detail of the show. Netossa has a pink necklace that matches Spinerella’s outfit and Spinerella has one that matches Netossa. It’s so cute and I’m really they were used more this episode. I used to watch the old shera and I think Netossa is my favorite redesign next to Entrapta. Can’t wait for season 2

So season 1 is good world building with a few really memorable episodes. Season 2 is about the same IMO. And then season 3 happens and the show is just money till the end. I’m excited for you guys to venture further into the show.

they beat the army of an evil white guy with the power of rainbows, I love this show :) Srsly though Light Hope did explain a bunch of your questions in the last episode. She told Adora that the Sword of Protection is a portable runestone that allows She-Ra to balance the other runestones connected to the network that is Etheria but Light Hope believed it would take years for Adora to learn how to do that. However, when Adora felt the support of all her friends she was able to access that power and correct the imbalance that Entrapta's experiment had caused. I believe that the rainbow wave was the excess energy being focused & released.

Montana in denial is me

The first time I saw this, with my kids (who lost interest, silly kids), it was about 2/3 of the way through where I realized... holy poot, this is amazing. I'm a little sad there are probably a lot of people out there who would love this show but pass on it because of the impression bright colorful 80s reprise gives.

I continue to love Hordak being a sensible villain. He acts intimidating, but willing to listen, Entrapta and Catra lay an argument for their success, Hordak accepts this and issues a positive and encouraging, if still intimidating, reply.

What's your source for the claim that Netflix didn't green-light subsequent seasons until this season was released? As I understand it, by the time season one dropped on Netflix, seasons 2-4 were mostly done and season 5 was the only one where they could realistically make any changes due to audience reaction.

And it does all of it without calling attention to any of it -- it's just how things are in this world, and no-one in this world thinks anything of it. There's also no sexualisation of any of the characters, no male-gaze designs (or anyone else's gaze for that matter). Sure, Bow and Mermista have bare midriffs, but attention is never drawn to them. Sure, Catra and Scorpia have the top of their chest visible, but they don't have obvious cleavage. The designs look great and distinctive without objectifying the characters.

This show just get so much better each season! I absolutely love it and could not stop watching it once I started. Love the reactions and I'm so hyped to be a patron for you! A few points of interest... Spinnerella is voiced by the series creator, Noelle Stevenson. Also, she writes the most amazing villains which you have now witnessed with Catra. Also, this was written as a "soft" series finale because Netflix didn't green light additional seasons until this season aired. It's something to keep in mind with how this wrapped up versus future seasons. I can't wait to see your Season 2 videos!

It's not even just LGBT representation, which is huge. There are different body types, there are different ethnicities, male characters shown as being emotionally mature and vulnerable people. She-ra does representation in such a good way.

I don't actually think that. I think She-ra wasn't directly affected by the runestone attack, but I do think Catra was able to "beat" her because she is quicker. I wouldn't say she overpowered She-ra as much as didn't let her lend a hit. Just like Catra isn't stronger as Shadow Weaver power wise, but was able to take her down by being fast and clever.

just wanted to say that I'm so glad you guys like the representation in this show. similar to you guys if this show had been around while I was growing up I think I would have came to terms with my bisexuality a lot sooner than I did. Being able to show this to younger family members is incredible and I honestly think it does a better job at representing LGBTQIA+ than most grown adult television which showcases the importance of this show as a whole.

I am almost done but I just want to thank you for saying that this show isn't "force diversity" or whatever complaint people want to use. You might be unaware but this show was heavily criticized for being just that when the first images came out with youtube channels that are known for hatred of minorities saying "She-Ra looks like a boy now" and other sexist and homophobic stuff (before we even knew the show was going be so gay friendly, the fact that a lesbian with short hair (at least at the time the cherry picked photo was taken) made the show was enough). And people who have that opinion try to dismiss the show at every point making fun that there's a prom episode and stuff. Meanwhile in the 80s show, Adora is literally magically brainwashed and has been since she was a baby and her hero turn is because the magic is undone when she meets her brother. Not saying the 80s show is horrible but I think the difference between magic spell and propaganda shows that the reboot took a very deep and serious turn.
