2022-01-20 16:10:09 +0000 UTCI enjoyed MtP as well but after a while I realised that it's actually unoriginal. Even though it's not like any other anime (except for maybe Death Note a little), it's clear that many ideas of MtP are veeeery repetitive from classical western literature. Like it has literally copied some of the very relevant ideas from Dumas, Dostoevsky and even Conan Doyle into the plot, literally unchanged and it only hit me on the on the rewatch after the new batch of episodes came out in spring. One of the reasons it's not that popular for the western audience is that even the plot is repetitive of the western literature that people in Europe and the Americas are more familiar with. So chances are they will not be as surprised. Also, I will add, that in anime, Death Note, Monster and even Baccano have some of the main ideas of MtP already covered pretty well. Still a good show to watch but as far as the order goes, I'd still recommend Death Note first.

The mental gymnastics y'all would be making while watching it is mwah. And even though its got little hope against the other options, I'm still rooting for Violet Evergarden. It is a masterpiece in a handful of episodes and its easily the most beautifully animated series I've ever watched.

I'll leave out death note because it looks like most people already comment this. First and foremost, Moriarty the Patriot. 10/10 best anime I've ever seen. It makes AoT look pedestrian. MtP is what Death Note wanted to be. The political, moral, and psychological themes will give you both so much to talk about in your spheres of knowledge. Watching you and Montana predict and break down the crimes and plans would be some of the best reaction content I've seen. I can promise with this anime you'll get a great genius counter, multiple simp counters, and 24 perfect episodes. Next is Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. This is kind of the midway point between AoT and Avatar for me. Dark and Political themes, light and fun characters, and more than enough characters you can really fall in love with. Prepare for tear bending pretty regularly. Finally I'll recommend My Hero Academia. It's a great place for you guys to be and really close to your roots with Avatar. It has unique themes about heroism and the psychology behind it explored through deeply interesting characters and arcs paired with some of that light air of playfulness that much of Avatar had.
