Fun Fact about the Eren Vs Reiner round two scene!

Hello everyone! So I’m currently editing episode 14 for YouTube, and I asked my Ju Jitsu expert dad about this grappling moment, I suspected it was a Kimora, and it turns out it’s a really accurate version, as Eren used it to sweep the Armored Titan off himself so the scouts could use the thunderspears! Pretty neat bit of accuracy from Attack on Titan!

Yep! Definitely the defining part of this move haha, but it’s the variation and location that makes it a Kimora!

Also known as a double wrist lock! lol

Wow interesting fact, thank you dad Kenny 😁

Yeah. I saw Frank Mir be the 1st person to submit Minotauro Nogueira in their 2nd fight. He got hurt and almost tko’d but when they were on the ground he was able to lock up a Kimura. Nogueira didn’t tap until Mir broke his arm with it. One the the best comeback wins I’ve ever seen. When he 1st locked it on too, Noguiera rolled over on top and Mir, still holding onto the Kimura, immediately swept him and ended up back on top again. Look it up on YouTube if you want. It was pretty cool. They also used Jiu Jitsu in Eren and Reiner’s 1st fight in season 1. If you go back and watch, they did that really well too. Hip toss take down, triangle choke attempt into an armbar, and a guillotine choke. Love the influence of MMA in the show. Annie was ahead of the curve when it came to hand to hand combat.

Very cool, thanks for sharing, Kenny!

The author of Attack On Titan is really into MMA

There's a YouTube video of a professional mma fighter going over this and other scenes. Eren also did multiple judo throws and an arm bar ar well

I wouldn't put it past them! Lol

Wow, I wonder if the studio had skilled fighters come in to do the move step by step in order to draw it perfectly in motion?

If anyone's curious, there's a pretty good martial arts breakdown of Eren and Reiner's first fight by a channel called "Scenic Fights": https://youtu.be/p_Gg5vgamxI Just be wary of potential spoilers in the comments.
