SERIES STYLE QUESTION

So guys, that arcane reaction took me about 30 minutes to make editing wise, vs the typical 3-4 hours a typical edit takes. It had no counters, no zoom ins, no edits really, but I was wondering if y’all think it’s a viable style of video y’all would want to see more of! I feel like I want to edit Montana and I fully when it’s both of us, but if it meant we could watch shows faster would that be a good idea sometimes?

Long story short, how important are counters and zoom ins to the reaction, as well as discussion section edits.

Edit: my most likely use for this would be for me to watch more shows solo, and I think for Montana and I together I’m def fully editing always

Comments

I'm 100% fine with the less edited style of reaction, so you can do it while still reacting to She-ra and AOT with the normal style. But I would really prefer it if you could do it with Montana.

Lucas Barros

I prefer the counters, but whatever makes it better easier for you. I loved the reaction either way

gabe killian

I loved it. No fancy edits or other elements needed.

Kkat

I think for solo I'm totally fine without the counters/edits and other elements. I think the counters/edit are super funny but honestly whatever is easier on you. Will love it regardless

Matt Hanna

Personally, I think it'd be fine to leave off counters/zooms/extra edits in your solo reaction and leave them for when you guys watch it together. Both because I think it'd be easier to do more creative/topical ones when you already know what's coming, and because I don't think having one chill, laid back reaction series is a bad thing. I'm here for the reactions themselves, so not having the edits isn't going to make or break anything—they're just icing on the cake!

Jojo Rich

Yeah, the edits are pretty great. I’d rather have them in the vid rather than the vids coming out faster.

Rebvv

imho the edits are one of your usps, i wouldn't remove them.

Danny Auerhahn

Please keep the counters and edits on the normal duo reaction series, they make it such a unique enjoyable experience. But maybe for solo first reactions having no counters is a good idea, like its just pure shock factor and just shows you blown away by new and interesting thing.

Ashton

"Edit: my most likely use for this would be for me to watch more shows solo, and I think for Montana and I together I’m def fully editing always" I think you should edit Patreon all vids as you said, quick and uncut is up as fast as possible then YT is edited. I mean it also means i'd have a reason to watch both pay for the early unedited version then come back for the classic kenny edits on Youtube :D

Peter Film

The counters and zoom-ins are fun for sure but you guys and your thoughts are the most important and enjoyable. You have great insights and reactions. I love to hear your thoughts and speculations most of all. So either way I'll enjoy it and be a supporter!

Vahl

I really enjoy the discussion edits. Gives me an in-depth look as to how you guys think and feel about the show.

katherine

I like the counters and zoom ins but i feel like theres a lot of counters in my opinion which sometimes distract me or annoy me

Erik De La Cruz

My two cents would be the question section could be shorter as well as the length of the breaks during the show. Hearing your two (or in air’s case just Montana’s) raw thoughts I feel as though is better, the counter is funny so maybe pick a couple funny/important ones and keep those and then let the rest go? Idk just my thoughts on it

Stephen Richard

I definitely like the zooms and counters, but I'll enjoy the reactions just as much with or without them. If you want to go with it, since it isn't as time consuming, then go for it!

TheMediator052

I enjoy the foreshadowing zoom ins on you in the AOT series but other than that I am neutral on the counters

Snail

i love the zoom ins and the edits because it adds so much personality and warmth to your videos!! i think as you said, keeping main videos full editing but maybe doing sideline reactions with less editing for other shows sure!

Ashley Blue

So Iike the edits cause that editing style is part of your channels personality and what I come to expect. I will probalby watch regardless because I wan;t to see y'alls reactions to shows I like but maintaining that level of quality will be the best for helping your channel grow long term. Eventually if you want to increase output of shows you'll probably have to consider hiring an editor to help out on the work load cause it will get hard to keep up with a lot of shows. But i think the most important thing is maintain a comfortable pace and don't fall victim to us pressuring yall to watch way more as long as yall are comfortable im confident y'alls reactions will continue to be as incredibly high quality as they are right now

CuteAdorableDog

The counters and zoom ins are fun for sure, but there are plenty of reacters I watch that don’t do as heavy of edits. All that to say, I don’t think you need to do them for every series lol

Ditto

I didn't watch the arcane reaction yet because I don't want spoilers, but I think no matter what I'd be fine with less counters, especially if it meant less work for you. I like the fun counters like "catra simping" or "Montana's a genius," but some of the others I really wouldn't miss because they're just kind of there.

Leighton Williams

I enjoy the counters but wouldn't miss them if they weren't there, honestly.

fr0st

I enjoy your counters and add-ins, but I didn't really miss them in your Arcane reaction. You did warn us it was just a quick reaction, but most of the reactors I watch don't do much more than pauses for analysis, with maybe a little something thrown in once in the video somewhere.

Stephen Ray

I think the counters and tiktok audios and such don't contribute anything. Can be funny when you do the zooms but I haven't paid attention to any of the counters tbh.

emelsi

Whatever you prefer but to me maybe certain shows naturally carry a different form of editing.

Andres Lozano

Sounds good to me!

Byron

YES I love both styles as long as you’re reacting and analysing/creating theories!

Bibbles

What I really value is more content with your commentary and discussion. I do very much enjoy the counters and zooms, but if it's that much work, I think it starts failing to provide good ROI. That said, I do think your discussion edits are pretty important; they are a big chunk of what you add to the shows, and what I'm interested in hearing. So... if I had to prioritize, it's kind of neck and neck 'more content, discussions' and then counters and zooms are second place. Whatever you decide, I'm eager for your content!

William Timmins

I'd miss the counters, but honestly, it's not all that important when I think about it. I'd still watch either way. :)

BlueEyedRaven

I really enjoy your counters and edits. However, If it's a question on sacrificing counters and edits for more content I think I'd vote for more content.

Marcelo

Honestly, I love your editing style with the counters and all, because it really changes from other reaction channels. But in the end, it's your channel too, so it's up to you. I think for series you watch with Montana, il would be great, and for solo reaction, I would be sad to have a fully raw video but I can get used to it... I guess? 👀

Robin B

I think they’re great but I don’t think every show needs them. It defs helps for the YouTube version but if you wanted to ease up for Patreon I’d be fine with that. I personally think AOT is the show that needs the most editing because you’re so far ahead Kenny and Montana has lots of physical reactions to the show

Easyspice99

I think the edits help with the YouTube versions, both for run time and to help avoid takedowns. The counters have become part of your "brand", but certainly not as big a part as your analysis breaks. But they're definitely preferable to the memes you used to toss in more often in the past (and yes, I'm sure about that 😜 ). I think "what's the best mix" might depend on the show. Maybe use Arcane or another show as an experiment in a streamlined process before deciding to shift what you do for the others.

JHB

I think this style for Patreon full reactions is perfect. Then you can focus solely on editing for YouTube. That would also make patrons enjoy YouTube rewatches more, because then we get the counters there. So it's not just a rewatch for views.

Kailor Aurelius

The edits don't make much of a difference to me. How you do it is great as it is, but if you want to scale back at all, I don't think it'd be that big of a deal. Do what's best for you!

Jason Black

I think for the full release main series stuff then the extra stuff is nice but for a quick solo side series like Arcane then it's definitely not needed as much. Hope we get more Arcane soon though

BiPolar HoneyBear

Plus, it's an even better excuse to watch through Arcane twice

J. Jenny Jameson

I like your editing style, both in Arcane and the previous ones 🙏 I'm okay with both. Whatever you want to do.

Krista Han

I like them and I think they add a lot of your own personality to it. I think the arcane style of reaction works well for extra things but I do enjoy getting the full production. I do often watch some of your content audio only but I tend to watch it the first time with everything.

Suplee215

I love the edits you do, but you and Montana are what we all watch for. If editing ever ends up taking too much time then definitely don’t worry about it. YouTube is obviously a different story, but for Patreon we are happy with any content you give us 😊

Chelle

To me personally they don't matter, but I do think that you've developed this style of editing for the channel that sets it apart from others. I think you can probably vary it up depending on the show. Arcane probably wouldn't need as much of that, but I'm not nearly as interested in Arcane as other shows so I'll skip this reactions series to be honest.

David Portnov

I like how you're usually editing the discussion but I don't think that the counters and zoom-ins are that important

Retrogamefan1217

I think it would be fine, we don’t really care much ab the editing but it’s cool either way

Skye W.

This^^^ Well said

Alexander Brogan

I thought it was really awsome reaction. It was nice to see just you but it really didn't feel that different. If it means you get it out quicker do it even with Montana in the arcane reactions

Karston James

i dont find the edits to be very important as a patron but i think for the youtube releases, it makes sense to include them. i dont go into the reaction expecting them but they are nice

sesamese

I think the reactions itself are the bread and butter, if it’s easier for you to do that it’s still the video we came searching for. I think cutting it out for more reactions would be fine, but only if it makes it easier for you to avoid burnout and if you want to react to more shows

Soren

Honestly, with this show, I don’t think you really need zoom-ins or a lot of editing like from avatar, Korra and AOT. The show wouldn’t really benefit from a “counter” or a lot of effects.

Marcb92

I feel like zoom ins and edited in reactions are much more important to the quality of the reaction than the counters are.

Evilinterceptor

For your solo reaction, I think the format is perfect. It was also nice to not have to sync up my own copy and just watch along with you!

Erik

I thought it was perfect, you should release that style for you and Montana on AoT as an option 🤗🙋💜

Alexander Brogan

I really enjoy the counters and zoom ins honestly
