Not to mention he told Levi that crushing the scouts with rocks was an act of "saving" them and their future children too. He didn't see the difference between taking them out directly or indirectly. So, both killing people and euthanizing them are equal acts of violence in Zeke's mind, so long as Eldians aren't part of the cycle anymore. Both plans can get binned imo 😆

In the OG sub when Eren asks why Zeke is chained, Zeke says something sarcastic like "thanks for noticing" and his tone is colder. This is supposed to hint that Zeke doesn't blindly trust Eren and doesn't believe that Eren truly cares for him or his plan, before he actually reveals that the chains are a trick. I wish all OG details like this carried over into the dub, but the idea of Marcel saying "you" would have been a cool unique feature for the dub if they did it.

If you think about it, Zeke and Eren had no way of knowing what would happen when they touch. One thing Zeke probably definitely knows, though, is that Reiner and Berthold were able to sense Eren tapping into the Founding Titan when he touched the Smiling Titan. They would have reported as much to him. Zeke was probably concerned that the risk of Marley and the other warriors finding them and taking the Founder in that situation was too great and that it would be best to tap into the Founder on Paradis, where they would be surrounded by an army of wall titans.

I can't wait to see y'alls reactions. Also as always, my vote is for Fullmetal. It's widely considered one of the greatest anime of all time alongside AoT and you two are so good at analyzing stories that you HAVE to see it!

It affects all eldian royalty, the reason it didn’t affect zeke is because the founding titan is not owned by him, the vow only restricts a royal member owning the founding titan. Zeke travelled in with eren as a passenger. Ymir obeys zeke because he is royal and doesn’t own the founding titan. Eren can’t order Ymir because he isn’t royal. If zeke owned the founding titan then he wouldn’t be able to act in any way that goes against the vow.

Poor man wants to die but just isn't allowed to because he loves some people and wants to keep them safe. A selfish man would have killed himself ages ago or just let one of the warrior candidates eat him and ended his misery.

It feels like everyone has seen and lost so much, and any amount of that for any single person would be enough to send them over the edge

Becomes a warrior, father rejects him the day he leaves for Paradis. Whole world view shattered. Everything he worked towards, the dream he had, was a farce. Goes to paradis, his friend dies protecting him. Convinces all the other warriors to complete the mission. Kills tons of people. Lives under his enemy’s roof, learns that they aren’t devils. Commands Annie to kill Marco. Mental anguish. Berthold gets eaten. See’s Falco turn titan, tries to save him, Porco dies in his place. Reiner is a man who wants to die, but can’t. He suffers through a fate worst than death.

2022-04-20 17:11:07 +0000 UTCZeke tossing the baseball to Eren was the equivalent of a handshake and Eren “missing” the catch was the same as him not shaking his hand and not agreeing to their deal. Hence Zeke’s shocked/worried face. And I assume they didn’t want to touch yet because they still were not sure exactly what happens when they do and it’d probably be better to not be stuck in the middle of the main enemy nation (who still had their full military capabilities) on the first attempt.

2022-04-20 17:07:52 +0000 UTCI'm doing a short recap on why Ymir is the answer the the last question because i'm not writing all of that again -orphan -cult, just everything that happened with the cult, only because she was treated nicer than being on the streets doesn't mean the cult was a good experience, including ymir knowing she was not actually ymir but putting up a front because she felt loved -trying to sacrifice herself for the people who she made her feel loved, eventhough they were responsible adults who put her in that situation -failing to save her people, getting shown around the streets in chains and getting rocks thrown at her, AS A CHILD/TEEN -getting injected and becoming a titan for 60 years, "hell" and getting so depressed she buried herself -eating marcel, deciding to only live for herself from now on and entering the walls -having to find herself a way to live inside the walls, stealing and who knows what else to survive only to listen to a compelling story and joining the military to find that person -falling in love with historia and saving her from her suicidal tendencies, trying to get historia to be herself and live for herself -facing the friend of the person she killed while in titan form, knowing what would happen to any warrior if they came back 2 short of the titan-shifters she left as -realizing the love of her life would be safer within the walls if eren had the founder but being unable to live only for herself, as she swore she would, and leaving her behind -dying for the people who let her be a goddess for a few years because of how indebted she felt with them overall, probably the most selfless character in the whole show, and at least for me, the one with the most tragic backstory she's just my baby and i will protect her at all costs

I sympathize with her for obvious reasons, but I feel like just Karl Fritz, she made choices that might come from a "good place" but have had such disastrous results for so many people, across so many generations.

Since they can’t touch at that point, Zeke throws the baseball as a symbol for a handshake but Eren doesn’t catch it, symbolizing that he didn’t shake Zeke’s hand and didn’t agree with the plan
