It's interesting to see the change in motive from Eren from the start of the show to now. First, he wanted all the titans dead because he believed inside the wall was all that's left of humanity BECAUSE of the Titans. Now he knows that Humanity exists outside the walls, but is using the Titans to kill all of them so that only those inside the walls remain.

Floch takes pleasure in hurting, even killing others. He enjoys utilizing the power his position gives him to take control and cause pain. He’s been through a lot, but he’s cruel. It’a not to save his people, it’s to “restore the Eldian Empire”. It’s all about power to him. He has zero remorse for his actions. Annie, Reiner, and the other warriors have consistently shown the opposite. That’s the difference.

I agree with others here- it’s more about the delivery. Annie was raised in a certain way (don’t wanna spoil) and was brainwashed by Marley. But even she shows inner conflict with what she does to the people of Paradis, she struggles with what she did to Marco and seemed reluctant. Also she spares Armin when she is the female titan. None the less, very humanly, she wants to be with her dad. Same way Eren wants the island to survive at the expense of others. The issue with Floch is that he does not show those moments of conflict with what he does to the comrades he grows up with. We don’t see a flinch or grimace or anything when he orders deaths or beatings to people he has known and worked with. All the things you list about floch would probably be seen in a different light if we saw him struggle or think more critically about his own actions, like pretty much every character has done. I mean look at Gabi! She was a killing machine and filled with hate and even she was able to introspect about her actions.

It just goes to, "its not what you say but how you say it" that is a big factor in how people perceive you and your character. Sure, you're not wrong, Floch's motivations are just as noble as the OG squad, but his way of going about things leaves much to be desired. Also, can't forget that Annie was just as brainwashed as Gabi, Reiner, Bertholt,...etc...there's nothing hypocritical about it

Yeah I actually am understanding of them both, especially Reiner. However I’m still calling out the hypocrisy of those who slam floch when he’s also doing things for his and his people’s freedom. They all share the same end goal and perform actions to get there. Reiner and Annie have done severely worse things then floch but people completely hate him from the moment he tries to stand up to the main characters and just keep that same hate going. Thank god there are more people these days during part 2 who have seen his actual motivation behind his actions and try to understand him and how he turned out like this

Everyone: I love Annie Floch: says mean words to main characters at funeral and gets others to beat up Keith. Apart from that, willingly goes on a suicide charge to help the island and tries to revive the commander, defends his island to the death and would do anything to protect his people. You’re probably a decent amount past this episode but I’ll still say it in case you’re still confused. First in terms of the beast Titans location if you rewatch the animation of Eren transforming you can see the tendrils of the halucengenia monster attach themselves to both eren and his brother so I assuming that form is the combo of both brothers. And the other thing you mentioned about that form eren is currently in I’ve heard two theories one is that he’s like that because it resembles the halucegenia creature more which would makes sense sense he’s been granted the powers of the founder although I don’t like this theory since I’d imagine him looking a bit more like Ymir. The other option is he’s like this because his head was severed he he’s taken this form because this was the only way the creature could reconnect is as quickly as possible I like this theory more.

Yeeeesss, so proud of him🙏 I've always liked his character a lot, and when in season 1 he and Eren were kind of rivals, they now consider each other good friends and I find it really interesting how Jean was the one who "understood" Eren in this episode and explained it when it's always been Armin and Mikasa who understand him and speak for him first (and I do think that they're still hurting from the talk) And yes, I saw it on the AoT Twitter that they would be releasing the first dubbed OVA on Sunday~ Can't wait to watch that!

The problem with your island analogy is that the scale of the rumbling isn't even the MAIN problem morally speaking. Assuming this world is anything like ours, it's probably safe to say that there are hundreds of countries out there, and I'm willing to bet that there are more than a few who had no intention of attacking Paradis alongside Marley. Eren is going to wipe out everyone regardless of this though. I find his actions to be understandable, but ultimately, I can't find any true justification for them.

At this point in the story, it’s all semantics. It doesn’t matter to Eren, if he kills the global military alliance, who knows how long until the rest of the world turns hostile and develops technology powerful enough to wipe out Paradis and the Eldians. Yes, what Eren is doing is wrong on a thousand levels, but he’s doing what is necessary. I can’t talk about what he said in episode 28 because this is the Letts’ Patreon comments, and I don’t want them to be spoiled. But just listen again, closely to what he says in episode 28. No, I don’t agree with what he is doing, but I understand his motivation and I understand his reasoning. Many don’t, they choose to forget what he went through which led him to this point, all because genocide is wrong. Which it is wrong, again, I’m not defending genocide. As someone else in the AOT comment section on this Patreon said before me, “If you can understand what Doctor Strange meant when he said, ‘It was the only way…’ but you can’t understand why Eren is doing what he’s doing, then you are a hypocrite.”

The thing about the choice 'them or us' is that it blankets each side as a monolith and ignores all the people who disagree with their side or are otherwise ignorant/innocent. You aren't JUST killing the people who want you dead, you're killing countless people who might only barely be aware of you or are just trying to survive under the same a-holes that are challenging Paradis. Also, while the world at large might hate Paradis, it's only the Marleyans who actually DID anything directly to Paradis.

The only reason Eren is even doing a full-scale Rumbling is because he refused to allow Historia to inherit the Beast Titan. If he had been willing to go along with that plan, Paradis would’ve EASILY been able to defend against the rest of the world without committing mass genocide. But Eren doesn’t want his people to “breed like cattle” (his exact words). He values freedom as the Attack Titan, and he would rather see the entire world be destroyed than lose that.

Eren ain't no scientist. I'm thinking of the forests. I mean, he's basically doing a meteor strike on the entire planet. Plus, given the MILLIONS of titans pouring out incredible amounts of heat from nowhere via founder magic, that's going to have an effect. A very likely scenario is that a wave of titans obliterating everything outside Paradis will create environmental devastation that will cause long winters or droughts or whatnot and then humanity on Paradis will end. Way to go, Eren

I will say I hated Gabi up until she started to understand her brainwashing. Once she said "there are no devils on this island," I started to grow more empathy. Now she's one of my favorite character arcs and I don't hate her anymore. Also, Demon Slayer!

Wow wow wow. The full circles here are amazing. Gaby' arc and realisation was *chef's kiss*. The reversal of how the edlians/people of Ymir have the full knowledge of whats going on( i.e. The Rumbling) but no one else does when along all Paradis and confined Eldians didn't have the full knowlege of whats [been] going on so they could be manipulated, oppressed, and weaponised. And the Scouts vs Pure Titans but now the Scouts know the Pure Titans are their own people and kill them with more compassion as mercy killings vs extermination although survival continues play in both. It's so good and tragic and complex.
