I don't think there is a "correct term" for winged unicorn, except "winged unicorn". The "pegacorn" mash-up is out there, but hardly universal. Yes, traditionally "alicorn" was the substance unicorn horns were made of, but it was adopted as a term for magical equines with both horns and wings during the 2010 My Little Pony reboot (and even there, it wasn't canonized until a couple of season in).

I love that it's so much closer to Adora's actual look, so it shows that Adora is getting more comfortable in that identity. The previous incarnation is super femme and very unlike Adora, but this one is literally Adora but more shredded and powerful. love it!

I don't think it's an anime specific term but I think the current context it's used in is highly influenced by anime. From my understanding doctor whonalways been heavily "episode ofnthe week" so filler wouldn't really apply

Episodes that don’t progress the main plot are not inherently filler though. They’re meant to help the viewer bond with the characters more so than they already were by seeing the character enjoying their lives. A lot of people called the townie episodes in Steven universe filler but those episodes also set up new side plots further down the line. A party episode Can seem dumb but they leave you little crumbs you didn’t realize initially because it’s also meant to leave you with a false sense of security.

Filler is absolutely not an anime specific term it's just very common in anime. Doctor Who did filler episodes back in the 1960's way before anyone in the west had even heard of anime.

Agree here. You can make a semantic argument that the word filler can be applied to anything but the context of filler in the way most people use it is certainly very much an anime specific thing i think. I also think the term is more aptly applied to shows that are more plot driven than character development driven. I also think filler being used as a replacement for "bad episode" as I hear it used a lot is a bad habit in general. And I think I have notice the word evolve a loophole that didn't always exist with the "if there's character development it doesn't count as filler" when previously the term was just for if it mattered to the plot. Honestly I'll say the best episodes of ATLA are filler episodes (zuko alone, takes of ba sa sing, appa journey) as those episodes you can skip and not be too confused where the plot is.

Filler is content that doesn't serve a purpose in the overarching storyline in any media. An episode where the group just goes to a party and has fun would indeed be filler, since that's what Kenny seemed to be thinking was happening at the time, as opposed to content that serves a story purpose and adds to the character or plot or themes.

I feel like the hopping from asteroid to asteroid thing, given that it makes NO sense whatsoever, is kinda like how Adora says "For the honor of Greyskull," even though ND has confirmed that it isn't really necessary, but Adora doesn't know that. Adora has never been to space before, she doesn't know how anything works, so she hops from asteroid to asteroid. With her magic, she could just straight up fly, but that doesn't occur to her so she hops. She's a such an idiot and I love her.

kind of triggering statement when he called it filler. filler only applies to manga/comic adaptations to buy the manga/comic time to release more chapters. filler cant exist in original stories when the bigger issue for them is needing to cut plotlines to fit episode counts

see the thing with She Ra (Madame Razz said this) is that she is a "being of pure magic" & I interpret that as her not being tied to a runestone. They've used Glimmer to make the point that the powers the princesses get from their runestones is a quantitatively different power from the power that Shadow Weaver, Mika & Glimmer use for their spells & I think She Ra is more from the spell side of things than the runestone side. I think that the First Ones created the sword/runestone as a control mechanism to allow them to "bestow" She Ra onto a pre-approved candidate (Mara). Now we learned from the gem siblings a couple episodes back that magic hasn't been seen in the universe for thousands of years which (if my loose understanding of He Man/She Ra lore is right) means that Eternia, He Man's home planet which is the oldest planet in the universe & the source of all magic, must have been destroyed or (like Etheria) transported to a pocket dimension of some kind. However now, with Etheria (which is a huge source of magic) back in the universe proper, magic is beginning to spread out again & Adora was able to access the pure, true essence of She Ra.

Alicorn traditionally refers to the horn of a unicorn. Piers Anthony (fantasy author) started using it to refer to winged unicorns, believing it was a traditional name, possibly because ala means wing in Latin. Best I can tell, there is no traditional term for a winged unicorn. It's not a hill I'm willing to die on, but I still like to point out that Pegasus is an individual creature, and is the son (or daughter, in older versions) of Medusa. Not a generic name for winged horses.

I love Entrapta's complete disregard for the past - she was genuinely surprised back in 5x02 that the princesses were all angry with her. She's such a genuine and cool person! It's all about the tech and figuring stuff out, but she's also so eager for friendship and connection that she strikes me as a good model for openness and vulnerability. She knows she struggles with friendships, but she wants very much to be good at them, and doesn't shy away from forming new ones.

They’ve listed it as one they’re considering after they do Arcane, which they’ve decided is their next show after She-ra since there’s only 9 episodes so far. I think The Owl House has a good chance being picked, since anytime they’ve asked for series recommendations that one comes up the most in the comments. I love this episode so much because it just leans into the fantasy of the whole thing by saying "yes of course She-Ra can breathe in space and play hopscotch with asteroids" and letting us have one of the coolest warrior goddess moments of the series

Just a note that it makes me so happy to see gay adults just casually married to each other and smooching in this show. We get such beautiful rep with Bow's dads and Spinny and Netossa, our collective cool gay aunties, and it's like a minor miracle seeing it so openly in a cartoon for younger people. I love that it was Bow and Glimmer that invited Catra to join their meal at the end. Adora and Entrapta used to be friends with her so had that prior connection but she's only ever been enemies with Bow and Gimmer so seeing them accept her so readily always makes me smile.

I love how much the show just bullies Elberon. The first episode of the show, Glimmer says the place hadn’t been attacked in years and the one time she shows up to defend it it does. Since then, it’s constantly being invaded and attacked. And now it’s the first location on Etheria that’s been subjected to prime’s chip. No wonder the poor Moth Mayor lady was so paranoid.
