It’s a beloved anime with most anime fans fav character …It has the best ending in all of anime, which AoT copied a decade later...but it doesn’t always do great on YouTube. This channel is 100% about chasing views. It’s the number one priority, over quality, complexity of discussion, or their own personal tastes. Which is why they can’t pick a show right now - when the choice should be pretty clear

And Ed's arm was in exchange for Al's soul.

Young alcηξΜιζΤ?” bitch get the fuck away from me lol - Bro this SHOW though. The post-reaction thoughts and questions absolutely nailed it. I never really thought about WHY I like it so much, but you definitely put your fingers on it. The world feels almost alive because of the way they do these scenes and things. I’m kind of really impressed now that I realize just how alive this world feels, in episode TWO lol

It is more fully developed than Demon Slayer (which is still a good show too) and you really get to understand their personalities and the growth they go through. Plus the female characters in this show are top notch. You have already been briefly introduced to them: Riza Hawkeye is a badass, Winry is amazing, and even “Teacher” is such a wonderfully developed strong character. I think all of us would love to see character analysis of those strong females by Montana and you!

It was like the world was reopened, and everybody got more of everything. More themes, more character development, deeper understandings of the world and the people in it. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is a masterpiece, and even though MAL is a toxic wasteland, the one thing they got right is that this show is the best.

Episodes would come out once a week, and the manga would have a chapter every month. It was a wild journey, and even then, I thought it was absolutely ridiculous (by workflow standards) that the manga finished in June of 2010, and the anime finished almost exactly one month later.

Still hope you guys continue this at some point. But I have to say my vote goes for Demon Slayer first. I think you guys will really enjoy it. But for a recipe that knows it's going to be using milk for added creaminess and rebalances its flavor profile accordingly, I'm not going to blindly say it can't work. The recipes are out there, and in some areas they're local favorites.

Roux is the base of so many stews, and it's literally just butter, flour, and milk. So I'm with Montana in the initial squick, but it's not like pouring skim milk into veggie stock.

Not just ones where you'd expect it like oyster or clam stew, but also beef and chicken stews. In fact, given the mailing address Kenny gave out, you're located in prime Southern milk-based chicken stew territory. Maybe check out some recipes for a Letts Cook stream?

2022-06-04 18:57:06 +0000 UTCHandy context re: pacing and story development: I don't know if Chris filled you guys in on the relationship between Fullmetal Alchemist (the manga) and the two animes that have been created based on it. Essentially, they started making the first anime ("Fullmetal Alchemist") before the manga had finished, so once they caught up with the published source material, they had to make things up. They started making "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" with full knowledge of the manga's arc (they worked with Arikawa, the mangaka, to get the ending right even though it still hadn't been published yet at that point). All of that is to say that the first 13 episodes of Brotherhood tell the same story that the original anime did, because that part of the manga had been written. The two diverge after this. The creators of Brotherhood (presumably) didn't want to bore people who had seen the first one, so they keep up a fast pace at the beginning here and don't spend as much time on each new plot point. So the first bit of Brotherhood can seem rushed or maybe even underdeveloped, but they slow down and linger more after episode 13. ((So if the pacing at the beginning bothers you/throws you off for any reason, just know that it's temporary.))

This show is such a complete and complex story that it has endured despite the years since it wrapped up. DS is wonderful and fun and beautiful but I think it would be more impactful to watch it right before season 3 comes out.

(Plus episode 2 and it’s already passed the Bechdel test if you care about that sort of thing. mainly bring that up because the women in this show are both well written and simp worthy, a perfect combination!) I do think this is a better show too based off how you’ve established fan engagement. I love Demon Slayer, but the story overall is simple (not pejorative) I think FMAB is a better discussion prompting show with deeper themes. Regardless I can’t wait to watch more of your reactions! As long as you both are having fun and enjoying what you are watching I love watching with you!

And if you ever need a pallate cleanser for the darker elements of the series, the author Hiromu Arakawa has another series called Silver Spoon, which is based on farming and equestrian, a lot more light hearted in comparison but equally as fantastic.
