Niccolo blushing because she loves his food so enthusiastically is a really cute little love story and if she'd lived, I have no doubt she would have married him just for his god tier cooking skills and he would have loved feeding her. 2022-03-21 00:13:14 +0000 UTCAlso, I think a critical point about Eldians and why they are hated is the fact they they actually don’t have control over their transformations. That means that it doesn’t matter how kind or friendly you are to an Eldian, at any moment, some unforeseeable condition can be met (Zeke’s scream, Founding Titan shinanigans, etc.) and you can just be swarmed by Titans. I think most people in the world are probably ignorant about the exact conditions it takes for an Eldian to turn into a Titan so in everyone’s minds it just looks like they are ticking time bombs. I think that’s enough for the people of the world to want to stay as far away from them as possible, which just further prevents the people of the world from seeing the Eldians’ humanity. There really is no analog for the Eldian situation in real life. So As much as I’s like to agree with Armin and think there is some path to peace, considering how hard it is for us to attain peace in the real world where people are just people, it must be completely impossible in the world of AOT.

2022-03-20 18:58:35 +0000 UTCI think there were a few clues that Zeke was emotionally affected by killing the Scouts, but he found his own way to cope. When he crushes the rocks he said something like “You’re not like you’re father. You have to find joy when you can.” I think that he didn’t take pleasure in killing them, but rather he chose to compartmentalize and focus on the fact that even while he was doing this gruesome thing, practicing his pitching was one of the few things in life that gave him joy and so he chose to focus on that. Because distancing himself emotionally was the only way he could go through with it.

Not sure that Demon Slayer fits in well with the other suggestions and past stuff in this channel, but I haven't seen too much of it. It seems like a good shonen action show to me, with not a lot of mental health or representation or theorising stuff to be found per episode but it may change and I haven't seen it yet

It's nothing you can point to specifically, as you said, but it's just that the vibes are majorly off, even when she's all "we are loyal to you and completely cooperating!", you just want to shove her in a cell somewhere because she does not seem trustworthy from her mannerisms.

These being Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist: Broterhood, Steins;Gate and Hunter x Hunter, I believe all are 100% worth the watch!

2022-03-19 21:33:05 +0000 UTCSo to comment on your thoughts on Zeke. I think it's completely normal for Zeke to be desensitized/"nonchalant" about killing and slaughtering the scouts. Otherwise he would go insane. You saw what happened to reiner. He almost committed suicide. Being desensitized is something you see in soldiers/the military all the time. Ppl will joke about horrible things. It helps keep you functional, keep you going. Feeling empathy for ppl you have to kill would cripple you.

Definitely a few issues in it (very “product of its time” in its portrayal of women) but it was the first anime I ever watched all the way through and I think you guys could have a blast making predictions and talking about what strategies you would use if you were in x or y character’s position. It really lends itself to the discussion aspect of a reaction

He gets angry that King Reiss stole their memories and then has to check himself by saying "you're not like your father right? You have to try and find enjoyment in things", after which his attitude changes and we get that very out of character scene where he puts his arms up in the air and starts cheering and talking about how he changed his pitch on the last throw. So that's a clear indication that Zeke was FORCING himself to enjoy the slaughter.
