In the episode where we get Mikasa's backstory, you see her and her mom doing embroidery. In the manga, this instead had them using traditional Japanese tattooing instruments and Mikasa with a bandage on, but the animators thought that would be kind of taboo to show that for a kid and so changed it because they didn't know that it was supposed to be important.

However, I'd like to put my vote for Full Metal Alchemist Broterhood and Death Note for anime reactions.

This is not a romance or slice of life anime so romance would definitely not be the focus here, but yes there is definitely romance in this anime, examples in the original comment. Not sure how you can get more romance than "what am I to you?" and "My only regret is that I didn't get to marry you" and so on.

The guys trying to kidnap her and her mom are literally talking about how she'll fetch a good price because she's exotic and there aren't many of her ethnicity around. Presumably, this is the reason they decided to target them in the first place and wanted to kill her dad and take both the women.

Levi and Petra were not really a thing, but I think Petra talks so much about Levi and in terms that imply to her dad that she and Levi are a thing. Definitely one-sided there but valid.

Most "romance" in the show is fan conjecture and slight hints by the story nothing really outright

2022-03-21 02:21:41 +0000 UTCI am a little thrown off by folks saying there isn't romance in this show. Jean is shown early on to have an explicit romantic interest in Mikasa. Eren and Mikasa's relationship doesn't seem super platonic. Bertholdt clearly had a thing for Annie and now Armin does (and it seemed to be somewhat reciprocated at least from the first season), not to mention our queens Ymir and Historia, and now also Niccolo seemed to have a thing for Sasha. There's a lot of romance going on here, despite it not being the forefront of things too much because, you know, dire situation and war.

Both scenes are of Eren desperately wanting another solution that frees paradis without using the rumbling, he’s literally asking Hangie to stop him.

But ye, Levi unfortunately isn't actual royalty, just a king in our hearts.
