This was my favorite episode in all of Season 4 because of all plot threads converging and the tension in the restaurant with that monologue! You forgot some details from previous episodes like the Warriors were planning to go to Paradis to save Gabi and Falco first and foremost, but also to recover the Founding from Eren

I’m not saying everyone has to like Floch but in the AOT fan base people have an uneccesaft hate honor for Floch where their reasons are super hypocritical and bad. I live under the opinion that all opinions when it comes to characters are valid and you’re criticisms are valid and I can see them obviously I don’t know how far you are in the series as I know many are following along with Kenny and Montana but Floch is super complex and amazingly written so much so that he stands out as a character who was only a side character episodes ago and I think it’s okay to hate him but still acknowledge that for him his actions have justifications!

I totally appreciate your thoughts on floch and see what you are saying about his character. Many others have already basically stated how I feel. I understand floch in a human sense, and his reasons for doing things. But personality wise i just don't like him. Erwin did similar things but I actually liked Erwin and I think he was a more critical thinker rather than a blind follower like floch. But floch is smart and strategic but I just don't see that deeper side to him, like with erwin we do see him struggle with all the people that had to die for his goals, but floch just seems so callous about it. Like he doesn't think twice about his comrades.

2022-04-05 09:15:22 +0000 UTCI read everybody’s comments and I appreciate everyone’s thoughts especially the ones sharing their point of views and I do not know how far others have made it in the show but Floch at least to me isn’t as high and mighty as others who replied are making him out to be. Floch is an incredible leader because he understands the people that he is commanding he is one of them and has a natural charisma and vigor to him that people want to follow. Floch loves the island and the people on it and in the peoples perspective that’s why he must oppose the military. I believe that’s why Isayama pointed out the newspaper headlines turning against the military is that the people have lost faith in the military’s ability to do what’s best for the island. Floch gives all that and more and especially later on we see that

I don’t LIKE Floch. I understand his character. I understand his belief system. I understand he has trauma. I’m even okay with him being involved with Zachary’s assassination. It was a smart and strategic move to make. But mans is starting to lose his whole. mind. Yes, he will do everything in his power for Eldia. Yes, he is a good leader. He’s very intelligent and espouses a lot of qualities Erwin and Eren have. But that’s kind of the problem. Floch seems like a person that you can easily influence if you know how to bait him into emotional states of mind. and I’ve said this before, very recently, the fact that at the end of season 3 he was openly challenging the military’s then-current decision making skills at the VERY public funeral and awards ceremony. LOUDLY. He inadvertently gave everyone who share his contention at that funeral a voice. He is a complETELY different person from then, and I guarantee you that that’s how this shit started with him. This rebellion HE’S GATHERED from within the military and without has given him a sense of control he seems to have lamented over not having four years ago. He’s become one of those people who thinks to themselves, “legal and illegal have nothing to do with right and wrong” So long as one can justify the things they do as necessary for a cause, one can very easily use that cause to manipulate others into doing what ever they want. Floch is probably one of the single most dangerous characters in this series for that very reason. He’s a shit talker, and he really seems like every single time he appears on screen, he’s more and more unhinged. It grates on me, because The way he’s out here wil’in out every other frame makes me think he doesn’t think anybody’s gonna try him. He’s gonna get clapped by someone who isn’t afraid of him holding that gun in his hand, and I’m wondering what lol As others have said, Floch is a great character. But he is /absolutely/ a problem as someone with lives in his hands lol

I understand why Floch has turned out the way he has, but he's still one of the most dislikable characters in the show. I didn't really like Erwin that much either (amazing character though), but at least he treated people with respect - Floch just acts like he's better than everyone else.

2022-04-04 19:48:43 +0000 UTCI'd recommend watching some episodes in sub, just to hear it. There is nothing more heart breaking than Erens breakdown in sub after Hannes died in 2x12. In Dub half the emotion is just lost because his screams miss the guttural sounds. In Sub it's unbelievable, nearly inhuman sounding. There are more episodes I'd recommend to at least watch in sub when having caught up with the dub. Also, when they have reached so far, watching *that* episode with lots of tears at the end in sub is an absolute MUST. I actually am terrified of how dub is gonna do this episode because sub was possibly the best voice acting I have ever heard.

2022-04-04 03:34:04 +0000 UTCYeah I think that would be a good idea too. sometimes in dubbed animes, and this dub in particular, the dialogue can retain so little of the energy present in the original. I was just talking about that earlier regarding how different Eren’s coming across in English from Japanese, and the atmosphere in general this season. Idk for sure what it is, I don’t want to say the voice actors are /bad/ because they’re not. They’re actually very good. Still the vibes of entire situations sometimes feel muted or different. That often bugged me growing up watching dubbed anime sometimes, even before I knew subtitled anime was a thing lol. Some stuff was just weird sounding, or felt out of place, or there were just plain bad voiceovers on top of those two things, whatever. Didn’t make it bad, just certain little things. but now that I’m older, and I’ve seen animes in both formats and looking at it linguistically, I think maybe because English and Japanese have SUCH great differences in their grammar and inflections, and just the way each one SOUNDS when spoken, it would be almost, if not entirely, impossible to recapture or translate the feelings inherently present in each language by its very nature. I think Japanese is very good at building intensity because of the way it sounds, and this show unfortunately is one of those ones where you really just can’t make it feel the same. TL;DR Eren scary as hell in Japanese and enigmatic as hell in English lol Threatening either way. not better, not worse, but it DO hit different

I’m not insulting Kenny I love Kenny and Montanas reaction I wouldn’t be a patron if I didn’t and I really like Kenny. It’s the same vein as Kenny hated Reiner but now after a second watch understands Reiner. Floch is the same thing and those who ignore his reasonings behind his actions are just hypocritical fans. I also like how you dismiss the fact that Floch is a amazingly well written character by dismissing it as only my thought. I’m not the only person within AOTs community actually in the majority who understand Flochs reasons behind what he does and the fact that Floch is what Erwin was. But people ignore that fact because it’s Floch. Floch has valid reasons behind his actions and him taking a side. He wants to protect his home and shows no mercy for the people who want to kill him. He does what he has to do to advance humanity and the people behind the walls. After what he went through in season 3 I wouldn’t expect him to be over courteous to a military that is trying to kill the man who’s goal is to save eldia and try to be nice to a world that wants him and his friends and family dead.

Floch does what needs to be done to secure Eldia’s freedom and he will do so at any cost. Fans might not want to hear this but Erwin did the same thing on multiple occasions that’s why he was called a devil. Floch as a leader adapted Erwin’s and Erens style of leadership that you continue to push forward regardless of the costs and that they put their humanity aside to do what they have to to win. Floch cares about Eldia and all the people on the island so for him like Erwin he does what he has to do to secure that goal and protect the island he loves and cares about and to eliminate a world who has never shown his people love and wants him and everyone else dead

Like I understand why he would go along with eren, from the perspective of protecting Eldia. He a well done character just like pretty much every character in AOT, but we don’t see him humanized very often except when he nearly dies in the battle with the beast titan. He comes across as overzealous and callous even to the people who helped make him the soldier he is. Almost like he enjoys going against all the people he’s trained with. I would like to see him show some pain or conflict more often I think. Like Gabi to me is much easier to empathize with in comparison to floch. I even find myself empathizing more with different Yeagerist lol other than floch.

2022-04-04 01:11:25 +0000 UTCThe Colossal Titan nuke would definitely be a choice, as in season 2 he also didn't nuke on top of the wall and I'm pretty sure by that point he had nuked shiganshina in the manga. On top of that he also did a smaller blast when he fell from the wall onto Eren. Also the Colossal Titan can control how fast it dissipates by burning away its muscle mass, as seen in S2 on the wall where he burns so much muscle to keep the scouts away that you see more of his skeleton, then when he burns Armin in S3, so he probably just burned his Titan fast enough that there were no remains

As a character who is most likely suffering from PTSD and survivors guilt the world created Floch into this and from his and the islands perspective he’s doing everything that is meant to protect his people. I love Floch and his character and I’m glad the silent majority are starting to overtake the vocal majority when it comes to how great Floch is as a character and how is actions are extremely justified for what’s happened to him
