The one part of Double Trouble's takedown of Catra that I think was wrong was their conclusion. At least two of the forms they used, and arguably a third, Catra did not "drive away". Shadow Weaver was absolutely the guilty party in their dynamic. Catra did not "drive [her] away", she just _survived_ her. Adora didn't leave Catra, she left the Horde - and while she didn't work nearly as hard as I think she should have to bring Catra with her, it still wasn't about Catra. Hordak is arguable. He did seem to trust her by the end, and it was her lie about Entrapta that split them up, but that relationship was never stable anyway. There was always an imbalance of power between them, and they were at best allies of convenience, never 'friends'. The only one Catra did unambiguously drive away was Scorpia - which is why Double Trouble ended with her. And honestly, I don't think Double Trouble was exactly wrong so much as they deliberately put the worst possible spin on it.

Oh yeah for me in seasons 3 and 4 is when you really start to notice the parallels and similarities between Hordak and Catra. Then in season 5 we get the full truth of Hordak's past and the fact he's got his own shadow weaver who is somehow even worse than shadow weaver.

Im not sure it's fully explained but from context and a few lines i believe when they say the planet is a weapon I think its less of a deathstar more of a magical planet sized atomic bomb, that if fully activated and used could destroy entire galaxies.

so i know it aint on the list but i think you guys should eventually get around to "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" it is very good only has 2 dub seasons rn but room for about 4-6 more seasons and the light novel the anime is based on is still being written and is EXTREMELY successful in Japan so probably wont stop anytime soon, if you choose to watch please react to it, i binged all 48 current episodes in like 18 or 19 hours plus sleep between S1E9 and S1E10 no other brakes except AoT Pt 2 Finale

The source of my Glimmer-based frustration is this; Catra set off the portal with the WORST of intentions, while Glimmer made one bad decision with the BEST of intentions & yet somehow Glimmer gets more hate. Trauma is trauma guys, we NEVER play "who's trauma is worse ?" it's a terrible thing to do. Both these characters have severe abandonment issues. Different pathologies for sure but loss is the central trauma to both these poor young women.

Ok so I can't help but feel that sometimes when people approach a reading of Glimmer in this season they tend to forget some really important stuff. I could go all the way back to season one but let's just focus on this season. So she: lost her mum, became Queen, became leader of a rebellion, is still a child AND she was manipulated for weeks (possibly months) by not one but TWO of the greatest manipulators of all-time (DT & SW). So yes, she made the wrong decision but I think it's folly to expect THIS character, after everything she's been through, to make the right decision.

Catra 100% set up dropping that thing on Hordak. You can see her eye it when she gets in the room, she jumps up so he'll shoot out the support, and she kicks him over to be directly underneath it. Who are the targets of the Heart of Etheria? Light Hope probably has a 1000-year-old list of primary and secondary targets she's programmed to hit no matter what's happened in the intervening centuries. I'm so excited to be here! I have to watch this again.

I'm the other way around: I changed my mind for them to NOT watch it prior to watching the season. It may not give away the big stuff, but Kenny and Montana do a lot of "pause and speculate". That's just part of what they bring to the show. That puts them in a different position that where most of us were as fans watching it individually. Watching the trailer will still affect their reacts just from knowing certain markers that have to be hit, and some avenues of speculation will become cut off because of something they saw in the trailer. For what they bring to the table, I think watching blind works better for their style.

Just guessing, but I think the princesses are merely just weakened/fatigued from being drained by the Heart. Glimmer can't use her powers probably 'cuz of being out in space and too far from Etheria (and her runestone). The season 5 trailer: I initially figured y'all should skip it ... but after some thought I reconsidered. I get those saying there's some spoilers.. however, in the grand scheme of things? If there's a spoiler, it's an extremely mild one, and nothing that couldn't already be easily guessed at (heck if neither Kenny nor Montana theorize about it at the end of episode one or especially episode two of S5, I'll be surprised). The trailer was crafted in such a way that the bigger, much more relevant surprises are not given away, IMHO. So yeah, I figure it's worth watching. Just some two cents~

Yes she did previously tell Glimmer to just finish her off before, but at that point she felt like she had absolutely no hope. The second she saw a chance with Horde Prime she tried to take it. This is further supported by another scene in season 5, but I won’t go into that for obvious spoiler reasons.

Also, bear in mind at this point Catra has literally nobody left on her side. She's banking on survival. As long as the planet is available as a weapon, she can be useful to Prime. If Prime killed Glimmer and destroyed the planet, she can't get into his organisation and be useful and go up the ranks as she planned. When you have zero options, you want to keep all potential options open, hence she steps in to stop Glimmer being killed at this point, is my understanding.

Definitely. The show has enough extra material (the trailer, clips from the 80s show for comparison, the Swift Wind shorts) to support having an extra watch episode to cap off the series.

My original take on the heart of the etheria is that it would take the power from the princesses to fire the weapon but it was also said that only Shera would survive the heart of etheria as in the princesses would die from the firing of the weapon

Adora breaking the sword will forever be one of my favorite moments in this whole show. Maybe my favorite moment from seasons 1-4, after her DECKING catra in the S3 finale. S5 is gonna be a ride though. Can’t wait for y’all to watch it!

I was really surprised what they did to Swift Wind to repair the sword in season 5. Not quite as shocking as the crossover episode with Batman, though.

I mean, the way I see it, catra only said that to prime to protect glimmer. And Glimmer could not use the powers because she is not in Etheria. Great reaction! I'M SO EXCITED FOR SEASON 5 OMGGGG

That’s fair, I could see both being valid, even if the decision to help Glimmer/Etheria was only a subconscious action on Catra’s part. It wasn’t the primary motivator, but still could’ve played a part nonetheless.

Might be a cop out but I'm going with it being a mix of both. She isn't fully willing or even conscious of how much this decision is an effort to save the planet and glimmer but I do think it played a factor.

I think that becomes clearer later. For now, we only see Glimmer trying to use her powers so far so it's a reasonable assumption that princess powers are basically gone.

I disagree there because I'm not positive Catra wanted to survive. A few minutes ago she was telling Glimmer to end her and she was ending everything last season. Maybe self preservation kicked in when faced with someone like horde prime but that's a hard sell for me

in case it's still unclear, they didn't destroy all princess powers, it's just that they are connected to the planet itself so Glimmer is unable to use them since she's in space/not on planet.

Season 4 finale is when I realise that shera and halo actually share a lot of plot threads. Ended up being a great way to convince some friends to try it "it's halo with princesses!!!"

The Catra's not a villain, she's misunderstood opinions have swapped since season 1.
