100%, And it just gets better every time you listen to in.

Cranky

The way they handled Hohenheim was amazing. Think his story will blow your mind when they get to it.

incognito

Something to think about is that the previous episode, Gluttony explicitly says that his father is in Central. Hohenheim was not in Central.

Nilan Lovelace

The end of Hohenheim’s dream is one of the most important scenes in the entire show. This is far more than a recap.

Norrin Radd

Fun fact, turning lead to gold actually works in the real world. You can basically achieve it in nuclear reactors. It's just not worth it, to do it.

The insights into Hohenheim's head here are so good. This is actually among my favorite episodes for that reason and how excellent the imagery of the party dream is. It feels weird telling people "actually DON'T skip this recap episode", but I stand by it whenever it comes up in my life

"It was all a dream" is usually disappointing... as an ending. As a means of getting insight into a complex character, I see zero issues with making use of that narrative device DURING a story. It can be done wrong even then, but while I have some criticisms of the show, this is not one of them, and honestly puts this episode kind of high on my favorites list, despite having some SERIOUS competition. (We also get these insights at PRECISELY the ideal moment, too.) Working the recap parts into the inner workings of Hohenheim's head is actually pretty brilliant and I hope whoever responded to "sorry, you're being forced to make a recap episode" with this legitimately fantastic sequence got paid extra. I straight up wish the manga had an equivalent sequence

Bravo, fuckin poetry 🍻

I honestly really love this episode. I think it frames everything in a really cool way for a recap episode and more or less solidifies everything we've learned thus far. Not much new to chew on but still very though provoking.

As far as recap episodes go, this is pretty decent. Also, I get what Montana is saying about the cop out of the "It was all a dream" thing and I hate it but in this case, dreaming is a good way to process a bunch of stuff that's been going on in Hohenheim's head and is also a nice way to not commit one way or another on whether Father and Hohenheim are just two aspects of one personality, separate people, just a Gollum situation of external evil internalised and corrupting Hohenheim or what. I like that you don't get any concrete answers, just an internal dialogue and showing that Hohenheim was pretty jaded about his ability to make a difference UNTILL he met Trisha.

my favorite outro!

The promise day gets closer

Amazing episode can't wait for the next one. ❤️

The speculations you are interesting. Especially having watched this with my friends five all on different occasions (first time for all of them) and their predictions being very different from yours. Cant wait for your response to episode 28.

Sweet Demise

Ah that does make sense. This is why anime is leagues ahead. The subtle analysis on things and what it means and represents is amazing to watch x

Swanzy

Aw, I hope you watched the outro! It's a good one. This is an interesting recap episode, one that I think you actually get even more out of once you've seen the whole series.

cosmotron

Right, I don't think it's implying that he met her as a child, more just emphasizing that he has lived such a long life and human lives fly by so quickly that he imagines her normal life growing from a child into an adult, whereas he hasn't experienced anything like that in a very long time. I also think it's significant in another way. She initially wanted to dance with him and he wasn't interested. He probably never thought loving another human was worth anything, and figured it was a waste of time. Maybe the "child Trisha" asking him to dance was a reflection of him always viewing humans as these small, fragile things, that he didn't bother associating with. Until he actually met Trisha and his entire outlook on humans changed.

Tmatts

It's important to note that this is something the BH anime added. The manga states that Hohenheim didn't meet Trisha until she was an adult. In fact, Pinako introduced them.

cosmotron

Not him seeing his future wife in the past xD I think the girl that wanted to dance with him was Trisha and they showed her throughout her life till they got married. Loved this episode and his retrospection :)

Swanzy

Nice, I'll have to watch this later, but I hope this served as a good palate cleanser for you, Kenny, especially after the heartbreak of the last episode. This is probably my favorite review episode of a show. Followed closely by The Ember Island Players.
