Tentative Plan: Demon Slayer Copyright

Sadly, last night after passing copyright for 3 days, our first episode of Demon Slayer was removed from YouTube and we were given a copyright strike.

So here is the simple truth: We now have 1/3 copyright strikes, with the first one coming from privately posting the first Demon Slayer episode to YouTube. Even if we find a way to post episodes to YouTube, if any one of them gets another strike, we would have no ability to do a new show, because if we got one more our channel would be shut down.

September 15th the first copyright strike will be removed, so we can re-evaluate the series then, but I simply don't feel comfortable posting Demon Slayer to YouTube right now because of the risk of losing the channel. There is just no way around it.

Here is my current plan:

-Make Demon Slayer a Patreon exclusive series, available for both Tearbending Masters and Certified Backbenders. Continue the series

-Have Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood replace Attack on Titan on Sundays and Thursdays starting Sunday. Its as if we decided on FMAB and its our new series

-In Sundays video explain the copyright situation, the reevaluation plan for September, and that Demon Slayer episodes 1 and 2 will be released publicly on Patreon the days they were supposed to be available for YouTube.

-Also, as a compensation, we post AOT OVA "No Regrets, Parts 1 & 2" on 2 Saturdays during next month, as an extra video during those weeks.

We know this is not ideal, and we are so sad the copyright situation for Demon Slayer worked out the way it did, but with all things being considered do you all think this is a fair approach to the situation?

Also, to be more direct, do you all think people would be unhappy with us for this decision to do you all think they will understand the risks and how we can't take them.

Best,

Kenny

I know I’m a bit late on the response, but let me just start by saying I completely understand the YouTube copyright issue and sympathise entirely. No one wants your channel taken down and I get that if you released the Demon Slayer videos completely free but available via Patreon that you’d loose out via advertising revenue. However, I have to say that I’m annoyed that you’ve said only Backbenders and above get to see the Demon Slayer videos. I’m giving you guys as much as I can because I appreciate the content you provide and I wanted to do more than give you YouTube advertising money, and I just can’t financially justify doubling that amount. I don’t mind if the Demon Slayer videos are edited like the YouTube ones for people below Backbender, but the fact that my support doesn’t even entitle me to that makes me honestly feel undervalued as a fan.
