2022-11-29 17:21:00 +0000 UTC"Wanting something you don't have" is kinda redundant - if you want something, that usually implies that you don't already have it. But it's not really envy to want something that doesn't exist yet, or to want something that someone else has if you don't know who has it or have no real feelings about them having it. Envy is more about seeing something that someone else has, and feeling bad that they have what you don't. You only want it because someone else has it, if that thing was destroyed so that no-one had it, envy would often be satisfied whereas greed wouldn't be.

2022-11-24 12:19:23 +0000 UTCA little late, but one aspect of jealousy that you don't necessarily find in greed is that jealousy can make you resent those who have what you don't have. The archetypical example. Someone who hates another person for no other reason than because they're in a relationship with the person they both have a crush on. Where greed might just make someone want a similar relationship, but be willing to move on to find it with someone else.

It's also interesting that 4/7 Deadly Sins are tied to wanting something. Lust is desiring pleasure, Gluttony a desire to consume, Envy is desiring what someone else has, and Greed is the intersection of just wanting what you don't have.

Greed and Envy are kind of similar I think the main difference is envy is specifically wanting what other people have and they would be satisfied with that. With greed it's not that they want what other people have, they just want more for themselves.

The reason i ask because i think the writer for these next few episodes for FMAB had to be a fan of at least history. Valkyrie is the true story of the assassination attempt of Adolf Hitler in WWII by some of his generals. The only difference is the train vs a bunker but the plan of how they would take over in terms of military strategy is near on point...🤔
