There's a creepy scene here that's a premonition of the final season. You'll find out.....

2023-04-06 15:58:29 +0000 UTCOne thing about this show is Dana Terrace had to fight to get the show made on a lot of episodes. One thing (and one that was sited as the reason it didn't get a full season 3) is everyone wanted the show to be more episodic. Disney gave them the freedom yo be less that than others (Netflix wanted the show to be 15 minute stories 2 an epsipdr) but I won't be shocked if they were under orders tk make the first half of seasonn1 more episodic and later on got more freedom

2022-11-17 20:01:58 +0000 UTCDamn that Lotus Hotel & Casino shoutout. Honestly I thought Toy Story 3 when I first saw it but it’s always cool seeing a Percy Jackson reference in the wild!

2022-11-17 11:18:30 +0000 UTCSame. No spoiler for obvious reasons but 9 and 10 are definitely contributing to the overall worldbuilding and the overarching plot in small ways. Definitely would not classify either as filler, but 11 I would call a filler.

2022-11-16 23:24:48 +0000 UTCSo when should we start asking if they’d consider dressing up for episode 16? You know, the episode with the wedding/funeral/date/ball/talent show/top secret spy mission/any other potentially formal occasion I’m either forgetting or deliberately leaving out on purpose.

2022-11-16 23:21:57 +0000 UTCEp 8-11,14 are the only real "filler" episodes in the series. These episodes were more lead by the classic Disney storyboarding format for kids shows instead of allowing the creator and writer, Dana, to lead a more story driven series.

2022-11-16 23:16:47 +0000 UTCYeah, the reason I called this The Great Divide of The Owl House is because it’s generally regarded as the worst (or rather, least-good) episode of the show. Like The Great Divide, Once Upon a Swap is definitely the most episodic or “filler” episode in an otherwise pretty serialized and really popular show. Ironically, this episode is the kind of stuff DisneyChannel wants for their “brand”, and the reason they cut season 3 short and made it the end of the series is because they want shows that are more episodic. Basically DisneyChannel is looking for their own SpongeBob and they ended up cancelling their own Avatar. They even recently admitted that they made a big mistake cancelling the show when they uploaded the first season 3 special to their YouTube channel and it became one of their most viewed videos pretty much overnight.

2022-11-16 23:12:10 +0000 UTCAlso I think the show does a good job of balancing filler and non filler episodes. The next one I'd personally call a filler is ep 11.

2022-11-16 22:32:55 +0000 UTCThere was like a week when season 2A was airing where I was convinced the body swap spell was going to end up being a huge plot point.

2022-11-16 22:31:55 +0000 UTCYeah, definitely the…well not bad, but least-good run of episodes for the series. Then 12 is amazing, 13 is good imo, 14 is probably on par with 8 for me, and then every episode of the series after that is incredible!

2022-11-16 22:30:03 +0000 UTCOoh did my question get picked? I’m about to watch right now, and I remember phrasing the episode that way.

2022-11-16 22:28:01 +0000 UTCAs a person who hates the term filler being applied too loosely, this is an episode that is kind of valid to call a filler, since it has no implications long term and doesn't expand on the worldbuilding or plot in any way, it's just a fun random adventure that is immediately forgotten right after,.

2022-11-16 22:25:06 +0000 UTCYou two convinced me to watch this show and I ended up watching all of it in 2 days! Definitely up there with one of my favorites so I'm excited to see you react to it. The show definitely starts giving you more plot toward the end of season 1 and then it keeps going all through season 2

2022-11-16 20:19:53 +0000 UTCThey are more "explore the world" episodes than "advance a story arc" episodes. Which does kind of make them feel a bit flat. 8 in particular always puts me in mind of the standalone episode that would be squeezed into a weeknight slot to hype up a new Saturday morning cartoon.

2022-11-16 20:10:32 +0000 UTCEpisodes 8-11 are personally a grind for me until things pick back up in Episode 12. Like people said, they're not *bad* but well... they're not great especially this episode

2022-11-16 18:09:47 +0000 UTCYeah, same. It's the Great Divide of TOH. ;) I mean, it's not TERRIBLE... just the least good... IMO

2022-11-16 17:31:10 +0000 UTCThis is my least favorite episode of the entire series, but at least I can keep playing the game of finding some LGTQIA+ flag hidden somewhere.
