2022-12-02 19:48:12 +0000 UTCMy thought with the homunculi deaths is sometimes it's not how they died but *who* killed them that is important. The fact that sloth is killed after Armstrong once again reiterates that he isn't going to repeat his past mistakes of leaving the battlefield when he could still fight for what he believed in - that feels like the antithesis of sloth. Of taking the easier path because fighting (either physically or fighting a corrupt system) is such a relentless pain. Armstrong makes that stand and only after that does Sloth finally die for good and I think that's important.

Sloth's downfall doesnt come from being lazy, and that is shown in the scene where the soldiers hold him back with the chain. If he stopped trying to push forward, even for a moment, the chain would slacken and he could move forward again, but sloth knows stopping makes it harder to go again when you are slothful, and keeps pushing without taking a rest. Many people with slothful natures or depression end up burning themselves out with this mentality and that is almost literally what sloth ends up doing to himself.

Ed does it even more, but it’s kinda hilarious to me that he and Hohenheim both share a tacky sense of taste lol.
