However, important note, he does not have that capability in the series (yet).

2022-11-16 14:57:50 +0000 UTCAlso it's clearly shown he hated working with Silco and that his daughter was pretty much in danger during all that time. Had he stopped working with Silco he and his daughter would've been screwed, but people keep overlooking that just to have someone to blame everything on.
Linus Marjeta
2022-11-16 14:56:50 +0000 UTCYea, I feel like Marcus gets way too much hate, yet he's basically gotten a gun pointed towards his daughter pretty much all the way from episode 3. I can't hate him, he was in a horrible position. There are constant scenes of Marcus showing regret, remorse and hating himself for the situation he's gotten stuck in.

2022-09-23 11:10:56 +0000 UTCEcho was ready and waiting to kill Jinx, but wasn’t ready nor wanted to kill Powder.
Purple Panda
2022-09-21 06:47:30 +0000 UTCI feel like the reason Jinx was able to process Vi hugging Caitlyn goodbye was because she saw Vi coming back for her, but when Vi went back to help Caitlyn, that, in Jinx’s mind, was Vi choosing this enforcer over her.

2022-09-21 03:41:39 +0000 UTCI always thought that maybe Echo and Power have been in each other lives all this time. Power was the only friend/family that he had left, so I think that the first thing that he will try is saving her. So I think that is where “boy savior” comes from.

2022-09-20 01:39:10 +0000 UTCSilco straight up schooled them. I loved it. I loved this scene, the scare tactic was at once targeting base instincts by attacking something so intrinsic as breathing, and showing them how superior he is survivability wise, but it was shown in a way that wasn't cringey/empty threat.

2022-09-10 17:51:51 +0000 UTCMarcus shows guilt and remorse throughout the entire series for his actions. He started off hot-headed and only wanted to get Vander arrested, but his deal with Silco sent him down a path he could never get out from under. I can understand the base desire to dislike him, but that also ignores a lot of context. He keeps the bloody coin to torture himself, he can't look at himself in the mirror without slamming down his sherrif's badge in shame, he lies to Silco about Vi's fate, he tries to undermine him at every turn but realizes he has no leverage against Silco that doesn't condemn himself and leave his daughter an orphan. He's upset at the funeral when looking at Grayson's memorial. He's immediately ashamed in the alleyway in Episode 3 and throws the sack of coins on the ground, realizing Silco has played him. He's reluctant to take the 'anonymous' donation from Silco to give to the families of the enforcers killed in Jinx's firebombing. The martyr scene, the throwing of the whisky glass when looking at his badge and a picture of his daughter, Silco commenting on how Marcus is 'wavering' and needs Jinx to speed up the weapon, etc. The show gives us a *lot* of moments to reflect on Marcus' one arrogant decision costing him everything. He ends up just being a man in too deep with no way out. He's an ordinary man and a tragic lesson in a world full of larger than life people. EDIT: That ending though, your faces! Haha. That's how everyone feels right at the end. "IT CAN'T BE OVER THERE--WHAT?!" XD
Locke
2022-09-07 08:07:24 +0000 UTCMarcus wasn't actually necessarily as bad as he seemed. He was trying to live up to Grayson and keep the peace by working with the leader of the Undercity. The problem is that he didn't see the difference between Silco and Vander because he thought they were both shady crooks.

2022-09-06 06:45:10 +0000 UTCFYI, in the game, Ekko's ability is to rewind time. How they did that in this episode by showing their childhood game was brilliant. That is also why he always has a timer (episode 3) and why you see the clock motif.

2022-09-05 21:44:11 +0000 UTCOwl House and Dragon Prince are both top tier.

2022-09-05 21:40:55 +0000 UTCMy thoughts exactly. Its such a good bit of film making and how it interweaves the personal history between the characters is amazing.

2022-09-02 14:25:53 +0000 UTCMight be hearsay but I saw it described by someone who said the writers and animator drew it as if Ekko was timing things out in his head (hence the watch swinging to time) and that what would have happened so he adjusted. Basically he was looking at the chess board 5 moves away and then picking a different move
Suplee215
2022-09-02 13:54:14 +0000 UTCI honestly think it was a ima kill you and me thing. Jinx’s face said it all for me. VI left her for a second time. And she lost a fight with a child hood best friend I feel like she was like yup. I’m done.
MJ Eid
2022-09-02 08:32:08 +0000 UTCOne detail I find interesting is when Jinx is having these voices of doubt like "She's going to leave you again." and about Vi and Caitlin she sees Milo as that voice. This is probably due to guilt from his death but also a lot from the fact that he use to insult and belittle her constantly.

2022-09-02 07:12:40 +0000 UTCMy vote for the next series isn't in the order that I like them, but in the order I'd want to see you react to them: Invincible > Young Justice > Owl House > Dragon Prince > Some other show > Clone Wars (No hate on clone wars, I just think it'd be a terrible show for y'all to react to)
Matt Lievens
2022-09-02 06:44:14 +0000 UTCSomething that I learned after this series that I feel adds to the scene, is that in the game, Ekko had a crush on Powder.

2022-09-02 05:19:54 +0000 UTCHonestly, would love to see a reaction on it if you're up to it. I think it's five parts of half an hour each so would love to see that while you work out what series to start after Arcane.

2022-09-02 04:37:59 +0000 UTCI love that underrated little conversation with Ekko, Vi and Kait. Ekko does not trust Kait and Kait is very idealistic and naive, and Vi is just standing by quietly providing support to separate them when it gets heated. After that, you can see Ekko and Vi both changing their minds about trusting Kait when she launches into her speech about ending the cycle of violence and healing and her sincerity sells them on her idea. It's such a great moment because before that conversation, there is zero chance Ekko would risk walking into some councilman's power alone with some enforcer because he would not trust any of them but at the end of the speech, he trusts Kait.

2022-09-02 04:23:46 +0000 UTCWhen you guys are finished with Arcane you might want to watch Arcane: Bridging the Rift, which is basically the "Making of Arcane." It's 5 episodes and shows how much blood, sweat and tears went into making this masterpiece.

2022-09-02 03:49:45 +0000 UTCThat fight sequence really communicates the weight of the past friendship and games that Ekko and Powder would play and now it's deathly serious. An excellent example of show, don't tell because they could have just told you that they used to play these games in the past, but instead you see it play out in the past and how it plays out at full speed now since they are serious and better.

2022-09-02 02:10:16 +0000 UTCInteresting that in the game they played as a kid, Ekko loses the duel, but when actually doing the same thing in real life, he wins. Almost as if on some level, Jinx didn't want to win. She just wanted it to end. And when she took out the bomb, it didn't matter to her how it happened.

2022-09-02 01:09:54 +0000 UTCI am enjoying seeing Montana's "something fruity is happening here" face everytime Vi and Kait are interacting with the little touches. I actually love that and it's so rare in anime to see that kind of detail. When Vi hugs Kait goodbye, she gently touches the base of her hair and then Kait's face when she's finally leaving. Some really good physical cues on how their relationship is progressing and how comfortable they are with each other despite realistically only knowing each other for a few days.

2022-09-02 00:58:18 +0000 UTCI love love love the Montana "I can't believe they ended the episode there" face that she's perfected over however many episodes of Attack on Titan.

2022-09-02 00:23:06 +0000 UTCI want Owl House for the next show (unsure if that was meant for pateron and not just youtube but never hurts). Also Montanna kinda called it with time powers for Ekko. He doesn;'t have it yet but in the game (and this show is only loosely canon to the game, lots of detph and stuff added like Jinx and Vi being sisters) he has a gadget that sends him back in time a few seconds and stuff so that scene was a easter egg for that and also goes with how Ekko is very good at predicting and timing thing and clocks are a running symbolism with him (we first see him working on one). Basically the other art style is a possible outcome Ekko is predicting and ends with him being shot so he dodges it in real time

2022-09-01 23:22:18 +0000 UTCSo fun fact that I only noticed a few weeks ago during a rewatch, but in Episode 1 when we see Ekko spying on Vander’s conversation with Sheriff Grayson, the spyglass thing he uses for a visual is attached to the owl mask that’s on a shelf in Benzo’s shop! It looks out through one of the eyes of the mask, iirc.

2022-09-01 22:39:32 +0000 UTCYou should definitely start the next arcane episode with a watch of the enemy music video. It gives even more context for the echo/jinx friendship

2022-09-01 22:27:45 +0000 UTCIt's a small thing, but I really like the contrast we get with the humanoid bat person. When we first see them they seem scary or aggressive, but later we see them holding and gently playing with a baby. Just a really good way to contrast initial impressions.

2022-09-01 22:07:03 +0000 UTCAlso, the statue that we see in Episode 4 is not Singed. You were right Kenny. It's a different scientist called Professor Stanwick Padidily. His backstory is a little different in the game compared to Arcane.

2022-09-01 21:57:40 +0000 UTCBtw if you are still confused the last fight scene was a flashback to an old game Ekko and Jinx used to play as kids. Their relationship is quite interesting. In the game one of Ekko's line when he sees Jinx is 'I had a crush until you started talking to the gun'
Bazil
2022-09-01 21:56:21 +0000 UTCI love how Kenny caught that Jinx was humming "Dear Friend Across The River" as she was in the first scene of the show... and here she is, walking across the bridge where her parents died, executing the fallen, just like the monstrous Enforcer in the first scene. I really appreciate you guys are paying attention to the little things, Arcane deserves it.
Sinewmire
2022-09-01 21:51:14 +0000 UTCYeah. Turning back time here was only a metaphor.
Sinewmire
2022-09-01 21:49:41 +0000 UTCHe's a terrible person... but it's very clear he acts the way he does because he is trying to do what he thinks Grayson would have done, as a way of honouring her and assuaging his guilt. He was a rash hothead, pushing to get results and Grayson was calmer, and worked with the underground, prioritising keeping the peace between Piltover and the Undercity over solving actual crimes, trusting the head of the Undercity gangs (Vander) to police the Undercity. When his rashness and determination to pursue the destruction at Jayce's apartment got Grayson killed he realised he'd got it all wrong, and he's trying to keep the peace with Silco, trusting him to police his own people and give the Council the answers they want rather than the truth. Unfortunately, Silco is not Vander. Ironically, Jayce here is a rash hothead, pushing to get results, resulting in the death of the calmer Sheriff, who was working with the underground etc etc etc.
Sinewmire
2022-09-01 21:48:44 +0000 UTCVi being kidnapped and sent to prison after watching her family die and finding out her sister was responsible was worse than what Ekko went through.
Mten10th
2022-09-01 21:37:24 +0000 UTCWhy is it that people can only see Vi leaving Jinx on the bridge from Jinx's perspective? She literally just attempted to murder Vi and Caitlyn, but everyone wants to feel bad for her because Vi left? How would you feel if your younger sibling showed up, never said a word, and then opened fire on you with a minigun? Regardless of Jinx's mental state, her actions on real consequences, and bullets could really kill people. Jinx simps are annoying.

Raven Rain
2022-09-01 20:37:21 +0000 UTCIt's not about Jinx not caring if she died. She wanted to die at that point because the pain was too much for her. She had lost everything and has been haunted by the ghosts of her family that died because of her actions for years. She was ready to check out.
CharlesZane
2022-09-01 20:34:37 +0000 UTCEkko mimicked the start of a game they used to play as kids. Where Powder would shoot a paintball gun at Ekko while he would run at her with a wooden sword. The flashback showed Powder winning but Ekko knows her movements from when they were kids. He tricked Jinx into doing something he could predict. But he also reminded himself of his childhood friend in the process which is why he hesitated.
JustinAZ
2022-09-01 20:31:08 +0000 UTCinteresting things about when Jinx opens fire at vi and Caitlyn: - She starts to imagine Caitlyn as the devil, she has horns and has an evil laugh even though cait's not laughing at all, and she completely scratched Vi out of her mind. like, left side of the screen went blank. So she probably didnt mean to fire at VI, just too focused on Caitlyn. - there are a few frames that show VI pushing both of them out of the way of the spray of bullets, but more interestingly, Caitlyn SHIELDING VI with her arms. I see both her duty as what she knows an enforcer should be in that, as well as a desire to protect Vi specifically.
Mathies
2022-09-01 20:30:44 +0000 UTCOne of the major themes of the show is fatherhood. I'll make reference to the scene with him and the grenade in Silco's office. He knows right from wrong. Younger marcus would would have pulled the pin and turned himself into a martyr. But he's a father now. He can't afford to be that man anymore.
JustinAZ
2022-09-01 20:26:26 +0000 UTCAgree with this. He took Vi as a kid to save her but knew if she was free she would get herself and his family murdered most likely so put her the only place he could think. Not a hero by any stretch but a regular person trying his best to deal with the mistake he made.
Cody Simpson
2022-09-01 20:13:34 +0000 UTCWell, "until you started talking to the gun," anyway
Eric Smith
2022-09-01 20:10:35 +0000 UTCI need to defend Marcus here. He’s not some bad guy, just a normal guy stuck in a shitty situation. He made a wrong choice in episode 3 that got him entangled with Silco, and now he’s stuck in this one sided deal. Multiple times in the show it is shown that he doesn’t want to do this anymore, but Silco has leverage against Marcus to keep him there. Just calling him a bad guy is a disservice to the character.
Teyand
2022-09-01 20:10:13 +0000 UTCOne thing to point out: You mentioned around 58:25 that Echo and Jinx haven't had any interactions since childhood. This is true of Echo and Vi but not Echo and Jinx, they've probably had many interactions and we got to see one of them. If you remember, Jinx literally shot and killed multiple of Echo's teammates right in front of him at the freight heist, which really puts more impact into the words he said about Jinx/Powder.

2022-09-01 19:38:18 +0000 UTCHeimerdinger's resistance to change is prolly why Singed (Victor's mentor) left, not that Singed had an influence in making Heimerdinger reticent of any developments that could be harmful.
Jake Thompson
2022-09-01 19:36:35 +0000 UTCThe writers have said that the time thing was a reference to his powers in the game, but he doesn’t actually have anything like that in the show (yet, who knows what will happen later tho).

2022-09-01 19:30:24 +0000 UTCFun Fact: in LOL it's implied/stated through some voice lines that Ekko had a crush on Powder when they were kids. Just to add another layer of Angst to that fight.

2022-09-01 19:22:59 +0000 UTCThat bridge fight is gonna go down in history as one of the best fights in animation, ever. We legit got a whole backstory that we didn’t have before. Not a single word was spoken, but we understood everything that was going through the characters’ minds in that moment. From Ekko offering to play the same game they did as kids (by dangling the same watch and smirking), to Jinx realizing and accepting, and then that brilliant use of back-and-forth between their past and current selves doing the same thing, with contrasting stakes. Of course they both stopped fighting after remembering all that. I’m pretty sure that scene helped get Arcane an Emmy, and it was 100% deserved. What a great show. Also, I recommend you guys watch the Enemy music video after you finish the remaining episodes. It’s animated the same as the show, with the characters included. You get to see even more of Jinx and Ekko together as kids there. It’s really good.
