2024-08-19 22:35:15 +0000 UTCSloth says he doesn't want to dig the tunnel but implies that father would kill him if he didn't. Also when it comes to the sins in the show you shouldn't necessarily look at them in the context of being sins. They're just aspects of fathers personality. They're more like fathers desires painted out to be the flaws of humanity.

2022-10-02 17:59:21 +0000 UTCjust a little detail. Oliver is not at her desk when she talks to ed in the beginning of the episode. shes at her medics desk. she picked up the picture of her(the medics) family and was probably what made her think about her own family.

2022-09-27 01:33:16 +0000 UTCThis is how I would describe the Homunculi. While their sins *can* correlate to their powers, they more consistently reflect their personalities. Gluttony is pretty straightforward/unified in personality and powers. Envy is vain and judgmental of humanity, yet would rather appear human than that of the ugly monster they are. Wrath has alot of self control yet has been shown bubbling with rage under the surface. Notably he is also a fighter at heart and revels in a challenge. Lust is obviously kept vague but they dropped alot of hints towards her death that killers and killing 'invigorate' her. Greed is obviously greedy (usually being invincible doesn't come to mind when you think of Greed right?) Sloth, constantly describes everything as a pain/bother and is basically perpetually miserable. They just want to sleep and rest, but are ironically used like a workhorse/slave.

2022-09-26 08:06:27 +0000 UTCI agree with this one. I know a lot of people that are very capable, and have so much potential. Sadly, some of them just don't care about much of anything, and that is the sin of sloth. It stunts them from becoming everything that they can be.

2022-09-26 00:31:38 +0000 UTCI learnt that the sin of sloth isnt just laziness, but often meant to portray wasted potential and that fits Sloth very well tbh.

2022-09-24 17:26:43 +0000 UTCA mistake I think you guys are making g on "the meaning of sloth" is the homunculus are named after the 7 deadly sins so instead of focusing on the strict names I think you should consider religious ideas about the sins and how they manifest in people. Small distinction but it can help sometimes.

2022-09-23 18:46:28 +0000 UTCI've always thought of sloth as sloth of mind, executive dysfunction, and indecision rather than physical sloth itself.

2022-09-23 05:51:57 +0000 UTCKenny simping for Armstrong is so relatable. Also, I love how much you guys pick up on the really small details in this show, but just to temper your expectations, Armstrong isn't an Alchemist, the markings on her sword are just embellishment. You can see it's mostly just filigree, and I think roses, which are a strong symbol for her family.

2022-09-23 05:17:48 +0000 UTCFather probably told Sloth that if he dug a tunnel for 300 years after he could do nothing forever.

2022-09-23 02:28:47 +0000 UTCWe really have been working hard to film as fast as we can, I’ll be real, editing hour long episodes of arcane for YouTube took about 3 times as long per episode as Shera, so it slowed us down a little, but now that it’s over we’re back to speed!

2022-09-23 02:26:48 +0000 UTCYoull find out sloths full potential later and see how lazy he is

2022-09-23 01:34:06 +0000 UTCSloth is sloth because he has so much power but doesn’t do anything with it. He’s very slow and lazy. He’s too lazy to speak full sentences

2022-09-23 00:02:27 +0000 UTCWell u can’t really say what sloth is because as u said earlier that it’s interesting on seeing other ppls take on it. Being lazy and not doing anything is different as well for instance if u are given an assignment that can be finished in 3 hours yet u are lazy so take 5 days u were being a sloth doesn’t mean u didn’t do anything at all if that makes sense

2022-09-22 23:22:02 +0000 UTCYou all have theorized before that Father has gotten rid of his sins, like Wrath is literally his wrath so now he's presumably without that anger and can make considered choices, and he's without his Envy and that is useful to him as well. Given that, it makes a lot of sense that Sloth exists but also by nature if sloth would rather do nothing, he is useless to Father so he clearly has a task he is blindly trying to get over with so he can stop already.

2022-09-22 21:59:59 +0000 UTCSloth is the embodiment of the easiest path in everything he does no matter the consequences unless he is ordered to do something by father or the other homunculi or to do it differently. He wants to do absolutely nothing but can't when ordered so he will take the easiest laziest path to get the job done. Notice how instead of taking the time to finding away around the piece of pipe he just simply throws it out of his way because that is just easier for him. In many ways he reminds me of Juggernaut from Marvel comics. Instead of looking for a door he is more likely to just bust through the wall because it was a pain to look for the door...😅
Jay SMARTASS
2022-09-22 21:17:17 +0000 UTCSloth is in this case represented but unrealized potential. We see he has amazing strength but if it wasn’t for his orders he wouldn’t have any will to use said strength. He’s following orders to dig a hole and all the while complaining about how bothersome it is. However disobeying orders is even more bothersome to him than following so he’ll just keep digging a hole but as we see here he has little interest in doing anything else. In short Sloth is more than just being lazy or slow in this case it’s having power and not wanting to use it, having free thought but preferring to do only what he’s been ordered it’s the path of least resistance.

2022-09-22 19:00:49 +0000 UTCThe tool really doesn't have much to do with the Alchemy done, actually - that's all combat style. To use Mustang, for example, he doesn't need the gloves, he needs a spark and the circle. When he killed Lust, he used a seal he carved on his hands and Havoc's lighter. He could just as easily use a lighter with his seal on it, or a gun with the circle nearby to the same effect. Kimblee just needs to put the sun and the moon circles together, and he can do that with his hands, two playing cards, a book, anything - as long as those two circle go together.

2022-09-22 18:32:05 +0000 UTCIndeed and as his full name is Sloth the Indolent it makes complete sense. After all the definition of indolent is a desire to avoid working or effort. We are each of us something like sloth incredible potential often hamstrung by our own actions and inactions.
Calvin
2022-09-22 17:37:34 +0000 UTCSloth is lazy, it's just Father's using him in his plans. He doesn't want to dig the tunnel, but he's been ordered to do it. He's always saying "This is a pain", "Can I stop now?" and other complaints. If he had things his way, he'd be laying on his ass. But Father doesn't like things that are useless to him.
Mark O'Leary
2022-09-22 17:34:57 +0000 UTCI really like Olivier’s design, you don’t often see people with long hair in military positions but it makes sense with her because she lives in such a cold area. Then there’s her actually drawn-on lips (as opposed to the simple mouth line other characters have) which help make her appear unapologetically feminine. All that coupled with her commanding and gruff demeanor makes for a very interesting character indeed.

2022-09-22 17:05:19 +0000 UTCAlso, remember. Sloth is lazy, but Lust said back around episode 14 or 15 that if it were up to Sloth, he’d be sleeping, but they had to keep him working. So, his natural want is to be lazy and do nothing, but he’s obeying Father’s orders to “go dig a hole” as Sloth puts it.
