Yeah, buying the flowers is to give them an excuse to talk for longer. Also I love, the clandestine information passing in this show. Like, it's something that you basically never see and it is soo cool.

A common "trope" in anime reaction content is the whole "wait 10 seconds" moment, where someone pauses and starts speculating on something they are gonna be finding out more on in like a scene or two. The opening pause into first scene might be the best one I've seen.

Olivier on some Queen shit as per usual. My read on Mustang buying all the flowers is that it gives the informant visible cause to speak with him. On the Hoehenheim thing: If you think back, according to Izumi he passed through Dublith excited about something regarding philosophers stones - and we know that whatever Father is doing is related to that from Envy. And then not long after that, he shows up in Risenbool. My read on that is that he found _something_ to deal with Father before Izumi saw him, but when he went back to tell his family to get out of town in case that didn't work... And found that Trisha was dead, and as a result Ed was seemingly no longer interested in listening what he had to say.

Oh yeah, solid questions about where the displaced rock goes, but remember that they have multiple alchemists with the philosophers' stones to get rid of it, and at least one homunculi we know of (Gluttony) can just eat stuff and its gone to a weird pocket dimension or something. There are multiple ways they can very easily and discreetly get rid of large amounts of rock and dirt.

Don't worry Montana, there's no need to feel stupid when watching this show. Arakawa used so many abstract/outdated concepts that she had to do so much research just to learn the basics of real world alchemy. I was really, really lost when I was reading the manga. It's not something that anybody should expect laypeople to get right off the bat, but at least you can see how everything is sort of coming together. I'm always reminded of this episode when I watch the episode of Attack on Titan, in which they go through Eren's memories. The way that they used the father figure leaving at the beginning of the story, and then reframe it in a completely different way later in the story, it really throws you for a loop.

Olivier is such a boss, I love how often the non-alchemist characters get a chance to be badass in this show. Also, in regards to Raven just spilling all that information to her, I wonder if it had something to do with her being a woman? He kept acting overly friendly towards her, and he even touched her multiple times. I doubt he would’ve behaved that way if she were a man (assuming he’s not into that lol). He probably just thought “ooh, attractive woman with a lot of power, I would love for her to become immortal with me” or something like that 😂 that’s the best explanation I can come up with anyway.

…and this is the episode where Olivier became one of my favorite characters. I love characters that are uncompromisingly stern and ruthless, but have strong moral values and principles. She is the epitome of “good is not nice”. Best line of the episode belongs to her too: “General, YOU are among the weak who will become the foundation of this country, literally.” Gotta love any time you can top off a kill with a really solid pun.

Interesting theory about Hohenheim, we'll have to see how that unfolds... And, while not a major plot point to the show, the boys' genetic heritage is worth thinking about; there's a pretty compelling reason why so few people in the show have gold eyes.
