I'm just picturing the literal reverse of the final shot from episode 38 with Winry standing there, effortlessly holding Scar under one arm. I think I like that version better.

Aside from the cold messing with Ed's internal parts, there was also the HUGE risk of frostbite in all the places where his skin touches the automail. Al, on the other hand, is just metal. No complex mechanisms for the cold to interfere with, but also zero risk of exposure.

2022-10-11 23:52:09 +0000 UTCDefinitely think it's a combination of both. There's the danger of frostbite, but Ed wasn't able to move his arm at all during the fight with Buccaneer, I've always assumed that it was something to do with the hydraulics system in the automail.
