I don’t think he’s talking about Father in this scene, but rather is putting Wrath in his place for speaking about stepping down for the new generation. The reason this is true is one line in particular towards the end of the report: “My father always listens to me.” It could be used in the literal sense by Selim like “He always takes time to speak with me” but coming from Pride, it’s more of a “Don’t forget that I’m your superior, you WILL do your job.”

Danny C

When selim made that speech to wich father was he referring to ? King Bradley or Father :3

SomeOneyoumightknow

Regarding the discussion of Selim's school report on his father--knowing what we now know about him, it might be worth relistening to that and asking yourself--which father is he *actually* talking about?

thanks for the info! no worries, reuploaded in its other form

The video works great for me, but I think it doesn't quite compress well or something. I went to my parents house where I barely get 4g service, and the video would buffer a lot. So it's possible that the problems people had earlier are related to that? As soon as I got back into 5g, it played like a charm.

I love calling newGreed GreedLing. Absolutely perfect. I think it's worth remembering that Wrath chose his human wife and takes care not to let down his and Selim's guard against her, which implies that he does kind of care about her to some extent. Otherwise, it would be super easy to just have someone in their organisation, create a homonculi, or even blackmail someone in to posing as his wife for that family image.

I don't think Bradley cares about his wife, at least not in a traditional way. I think he sees her kinda like he got to choose his own pet dog in a life full of decisions made for him. I think he doesn't remotely consider her his equal as a human, much less actually love her.

I don't know if anyone told you but about Envy's design the entire manga the anime is based off of was drawn and written by a single woman. Her name is Hiromu Arakawa

Mikey

I really like Kenny's butterfly shirt.

Always fun to see the dark side of your mom shirt

I'm glad they finally explicitly said why Olivier has contempt for Alex. Ironically, for all her admirable traits, Olivier doesn't have the compassion that Alex does, since he saw what they were doing was wrong in Ishval and chose to opt out despite probably being punished for it in his career while Olivier assumedly did as ordered. It's ironic because literally at this point Olivier is working against her orders from the military because the military is completely taken over by the bad people, so she is literally doing what Alex did in Ishval but less openly. Arguably, it takes more courage to openly decline and not do the wrong thing you are ordered to do, as Alex did, than covertly do what you think is best, as Olivier is doing.

And yeah, video works great!

Envy really is the personification of the person who overcompensate. He reveals his "true form" with such relish to Ed but it turns out his overly large body was just to overcompensate for how tiny and shitty his real body is.

I’ll repost later, try on your phone, works for me :)

What up lett’s react, I would suggest that if you could find it, y’all should watch the original fullmetal alchemist episode 9 “be thought for the people”. It’s a great stand alone episode that wont interfere with the plot. But it will provide more background info on yoke. Y’all don’t have to react to it but I would give it a quick watch. Your friend chris can probably confirm it would interfere with anything.

Final comment, but "The state has no interest in ethics" is such a chilling and (sadly) often true to life line.

Also! The title of this episode is a callback to episode 28. In that one, Father compared humans to insects/ants. "When you see an insect on the ground do you stop to consider it a fool? The life of an insect is so beneath you it would be a waste of your time to even consider judging it. That would be an accurate summation on my feelings toward you humans." And this episode "Bite of the Ant" shows just how strong such 'insects' can be.

I always took Wrath's words about his wife to also be something of a subtle dig at Hawkeye. Basically "I may not have had any choice for almost everything in my life, but at least I got to choose who I could marry." Unlike Roy and Riza, who can't (visibly or legally at least) be together because of military anti-fraternization laws. I think he does care about his wife, but I also think he chose those words to say to Riza very deliberately.

About the Pride dinner speech about his dad, if I remember correctly this was right after Lust died. Wrath and pride had a conversation in the hallway and Wrath said something along the lines of “No matter how good we are, they still have us scrambling. Maybe it’s time for the new generation to take over.” And Pride didn’t like that. Pride said that he won’t tell Father about what he said tonight. Cut to the dinner scene, Selime is basically praising Bradley for being so dedicated to his country and that he is the best. It was almost like Pride was talking to Wrath in code to remind Wrath about what their purpose is.

Video works great!

I’m so glad you guys like this intro - it’s my favorite of the five and gives me goosebumps every time! Side note, as you may have guessed the intros contain a lot of clues. It’s worth going back after you’ve finished the entire series and rewatching each of the intros to appreciate all of them and what they each mean for the whole story

Also, Patreon has now given us the ability to post videos directly to the site, so if there are any issues that present when playing the video, its because its a work in progress! (I can repost through Vimeo if this doesn’t work!)
