I think it handles some themes that a lot of other anime fumble with especially in regards to the relationship dynamics of the characters. It truly feels one of a kind, and that doesn't even touch the surface of what is yet to come once they continue past season 1.

I wouldn’t even say the show has “fanservice” in the way other anime does. The sexual themes are an important, bedrock aspect of the show, it’s not just throwaway titillation like Code Geass had. Don’t get me wrong I like Code Geass a lot, but Villeta or Kallen in skimpy outfits doesn’t really add anything to the plot or characters the same way scenes with Himeno or Makima does in CSM.

There is so much to dig into here, the worldbuilding is understated and fascinating, the alternate universe 90’s depicted in this show is a *very* different place because of the presence of Devils. Where the Devils come from and how they interact with the world, how they get their power, how they’re born, it’s all amazing stuff that gets explored over the course of the series and I want to see your predictions!

Denji is very much a character who is slowly learning what it means to be human, with an incomplete, immature idea of what relationships and sex are. But seeing him grow and gradually put together a concept of self is the main draw of CSM. This show will really give Montana a lot of meat to dig into in terms of psychoanalysis. Denji’s journey up Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs is one of the most compelling character arcs I’ve seen in a very long time.

To start, the only way to interpret that Fat Gum and Mt Lady scene in s6 as fan service is to intentionally misinterpret it. He’s shocked and running away because a giant person is about to fall on him. He yells “a big booty!” cause that’s what’s about to land on him and it’s funny. That isn’t even a fan service scene, it’s absurdist comedy. For CSM the main theme of the show centers around Denji in a world he doesn’t understand. The reason I think they will love the “fan service” in CSM is because it is quite different from your standard. It’s very sexual but it actually has a point in the story. I am pretty confident Montana is mature enough to handle that. She probably doesn’t need you defending her honor or whatever and protecting her from the sexual content.

Kenny also is caught up on MHA so there's no more for him to watch without her. However with spoilers so Kenny you can not read the rest of this. There's no way Montana would 'love the fanservice' in this show. Multiple plots revolve around Denji getting it on because he's a horny boy and it's a lot more graphic than a single shot of a character drawn scantily. There's entire scenes of fan service like I can't imagine Montana getting past the toilet. Though I would also love to see that but I know she'd dislike it based on her reactions already to much tamer stuff.

One shorter show and one longer one like MHA could be a good compromise too and that gives you up to three shows each week, which is a heck of a variety to choose from.

I like MHA more than this and think you will like MHA more than this probably (as Kenny knows) but this is only 12 episodes right now so it's quick. Chainsaw Man also has the most fanservice of any of the shows you are viewing now, easily. However, I am saying this with no irony, I genuinely believe you will love the fanservice in this show. That should be enough to interest you lol Also as far as the endings the songs and animation are different. I'm surprised there was no animation for this first episode. I know that every other episode at least has a new song and animation for the ending credits.

Most anime tend to censor themselves (compared to the manga they're based on) when it comes to gore, but this one censored almost nothing. (To clarify, I'm not saying every episode is this gory, but, whenever it is, they pretty much stayed true to the manga in terms of the gore.)

Also, since there's only one season at the moment, this might be a steady lead into the longer shows like JJK and Code Geass which also have extreme moments in them (but not as extreme as CSM in some aspects).

This first ending doesn't really have any visuals but if you watch more, it may be worth watching the endings too since there will be some fun visual stuff you may be able to factor into your discussions.

This show is such a gem, and even with all its supernatural elements it really grounds its self with how it explores the human psyche. A real labor of love, with things to analyze from both of your specializations and perspectives, and shorter than the others as well. I never watched the English Dub of this, but I've heard good things and this will be a chance to check it out. Episode 2, if you watch it, will be the real test for me for how good the Dub is, since there are a few iconic lines that I hope get translated right.

I'm now caught up with the manga, and the creator is my all time favourite (Tatsuki Fujimoto). Try checking out some of his other work. Ones I would recommend are Goodbye Eri, Lookback and Fire Punch
