2023-01-25 22:16:46 +0000 UTCEvery time I start to think I've maybe seen a better anime than FMAB, I watch it again and realize I was wrong. It's still my favorite anime series 13 years later, and it has probably my favorite ending of anything, period. The decision to devote a full episode to an epilogue worked incredibly well, wrapping up all the dangling threads nicely and giving a nice, proper ending to every major character's journey.

Your insights were fun, and I loved seeing how much you enjoyed the show. It's one of my top faves and I agree that everything comes full circle for each character. Hopefully you get a chance to watch the bloopers, they're pretty fun! A few times in this last episode I found my mind replacing the actual dialogue for the ones said in the blooper reel XD. I know they're not canon, but it made me realize that other than roy and hoenheim, all other sacrifices lost body parts that couldnt be replaced. But Roy and Hoenheim didn't because they were forced into the truth and didn't, only lost parts of themselves or forced into hell

It wasn’t a million dollars per episode, it was a million dollars for the movie that was made (I believe it was live action and not very good). The actual amount spent on each episode isn’t known. :) Also, it has, in my opinion, one of the absolute best opening songs ever!

Since anyone entering the portal has to give something up, the Truth maintained the rule by taking something from Mustang but realizing the situation, he decided to just shut off his sight knowing he'll get it back. I guess it's just left to the imagination but your take sounds tight.

2022-12-31 23:47:00 +0000 UTCan interesting thing about Mustang's eyes, unlike everyone else who saw the truth, he didn't lose his eyes, he only lost his sight. Hoenheim said you can't get back what you lost due to your sin, but I think it's because Mustang didn't actually commit the taboo, he was forced to so he didn't lose his eyes, just his sight, and that was able to be restored because the Truth is a trickster and kind of a dick, but I don't think it likes cheaters either

If I remember correctly there's something like 50 clans in Xing and the emperor takes a wife from each clan and the children are officially members of their mothers clan but they are all considered heirs competing for the throne so whichever heir becomes emperor their clan will gain a lot of power and influence.

2022-12-31 15:45:47 +0000 UTChere's a fun tidbit of information: Ling's eye color and Mustang (Non blind) are very alike, so obviously Mustang is of Xingese descent on at least one side. HOWEVER, there is a theory that goes even further than that. the only thing people in-the-know are 100% sure of is that his birth mother was a xingese woman who fell in love with an amestrian man, and Roy was born out of wedlock, but the theory is that his mother was actually one of the emperor's wives. this could explain his ambition to be the fuhrer of amestris, also... with just a few extra letters you could make Roy into Royalty. just a hunch, but I think his first name (possibly given by his foster mother, Kris,) is a hint to this for us fans and theory vultures to pick apart down to the last sinewy detail.

2022-12-31 15:07:12 +0000 UTCNot much left to say, the series' greatness speaks for itself. The only thing might be that at the time it was a ridiculous marvel in anime production. The final chapter of the manga was released on June 11th, 2010, and this episode aired on July 4th 2010, less than a full month apart. Studio Bones and their collaborators did an incredible job, and it stood the test of time. On that note, Happy New Year Kenny and Montana! Looking forward to 2023!
