The Owl House 1x19 Reaction, "Young Blood, Old Souls"

Enjoy! Next Episode Coming Monday!

Comments

I also was going to mention this. Basilisks are shape shifters and they eat magic not the souls of people. In that episode the basilisk attacked a whole school but no one died. The stu dents were just to weak to play for the whole week, I believe.

VesperQuartz15

I hate to do it but I feel like I need to make a correction. The basilisk in "The First Day" wasnt stealing souls, it was stealing magic. Gus, Willow, Amity and Principal Bump were all drained but were still alive and even conscious, just completely weakened by having all their magic drained out. Bump is dragging himself along the ground and saying he has to go get help when Luz and the delinquents drive the basilisk back into the auditorium.

Don’t know if u noticed, but the golden Guy that Belos nodded to at the end, he was standing next to Belos in agony of a witch when Belos ate a palisman

Big K

Regarding the magic, I'd remind you that we already know from Eda that the witches on the boiling isles have a bile duct attached to their hearts which basically fuels their magic. Luz does not have one, so her glyph magic is powered by some other source.

since u guys are pretty good at noticing little things in the background u should know thats especially important in season 2

awildjord

How to make you hate someone, then fall in love with them, in two episodes.

SweetCandle

When Luz shot Belos’s eye, he started growling like a dog

Big K

yep wonder who's the amity looking person in the crowd... plus the person beside them... i think a lot of us toh fans have warned you about things in the background that maybe you only notice on a second rewatch, but yeah. things in the background.

The secret message from the Season 1 episode titles is: A WITCH LOSES A TRUE WAY And here’s the full Season 1 hidden coded message: two witches torn apart now alone two hearts of stone a curse of feathers and mud a betrayal of [blood]

Yeah, my experience was a bit different because the first episode of this show that I watched was 2x02, so I already knew that Lilith was on our side. I actually thought her and Eda were like the aunts from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, right down to the serious one vs. the wacky one. Anyway, after that episode I binged the whole series, and after 1x18 I was so curious how they’d manage to make Lilith into one of the good guys, but watching the flashback it all made sense to me. I was actually really impressed how they managed to provide an explanation for everything Lilith had done that also made her immediate switch make sense. Binging the show in less than a week probably helped because all of Lilith’s comments and actions were still fresh in my head. Even from the first episode she appeared in she was talking about wanting to help Eda, and that was her primary goal throughout season 1. So when the Emperor reneges on their deal and instead is going to kill her sister, she no longer has a reason to stay loyal to him.

Jenny D

Yeah, at 14:14 in their reaction you can see the sign up list for Emperor’s Coven Tryouts, and every space is blank. It could just be an animation choice, but I can’t help but think that they chose to show us a blank list for a reason. Otherwise they could’ve just done scribbles on the lines like in other animated shows, or simply not shown us the sign up sheet at all.

Jenny D

Ooh you guys are watching Game of Thrones? Are you considering reacting to House of the Dragon?

Jenny D

It's so fun to see how much an effect to other shows have On a person for example full metal alchemist brotherhood having such an effect on Kenny with his theories

Poet

Lilith's turnaround definitely felt too quick to me at first, but when you take a step back it makes a lot of sense. Lilith said she thought the curse was temporary and only wanted to win the duel for the Emperor's Coven. Imagine the absolute guilt she felt for all those years. She was desperate to find a cure and Belos told her what she wanted to hear. So this was her chance, her one chance to fix a lifelong mistake. Of course, once Belos said no she had to re-evaluate everything. At the core of it though, she still wanted to save her sister and fix her mistake more than her loyalty to the emperor.

MysteriousDigi

Can't wait for more! Thanks for reacting!!

Spot on by Montana. As someone who has life-long clinical depression, I have times where I'm feeling down and because I know it's a chemical imbalance, I tell myself, "no, it's not you. It's the chemicals in your brain. Do something about it." and I'll talk to someone I know can bring me out of it or do something I love.

BlueEyedRaven

Now that we are to this episode, I can say how much I actually love Lilith.

Oddgirlsmedia

Wow, Kenny spotting the "Amity-looking person" in the background, I never saw them there until now. Damn this is a good show.

emelsi

We're in the plot game now fam

PearseNation

Very excited to watch this! Also idk how far ahead you guys are in watching but in case it's not far I wanted to let you know that season 2 really rewards watching *closely* - there's a lot of little bits of foreshadowing that happen in background shots that you may not think are important on first watch. Just a little head's up! I can't for you all to see it!
