Their second season just finished so you would have a lot of content to watch through. P.S. If you guys enjoyed Legend of Korra its animation is done by the same animation studio. ;)

(And later a scene after Scanlan enters through a window, although that being less graphic might not be as bad). I'd have similar concerns if they were to watch Chainsaw Man.

2023-02-06 21:46:06 +0000 UTCWhat’s really incredible about season 2 is that at some point during the development of 2A is when Dana and the crew found out that season 3 was going to be cut really short, so they had to make changes to the overall plot and fit as much into the episodes that they had left, and yet it still turned out even better than season 1!

2023-02-06 18:55:22 +0000 UTCThe default for "swashbuckling" isn't "piraty", it's "swordfights and derring-do", especially fast-moving fencing-type swordfights: think Robin Hood, The Princess Bride, The Three Musketeers, Captain Blood, Pirates of the Caribbean, Zorro, probably about half of Errol Flynn's filmography, etc. And while he doesn't use a sword, Han Solo could fit within the sci-fi version. Seahawk from She-Ra definitely pictures himself as a swashbuckling adventurer.

2023-02-06 18:23:10 +0000 UTCI'd love to see your reactions to Legend of Vox Machina, but I think it comes with what might be a very big trigger warning for Montana in the first episode: I think the blood and gore might be okay after Attack on Titan, but there's an early scene in particular that I think would be very unpleasant (and possibly one later on, although it's much more implied). It's always great to see your reactions fresh for both of you, but this might be a case where Kenny should at least watch until the end of the tavern brawl to gauge how Montana would handle it.

The sound of the sword against the buckler was "swashbuckling". It then came to mean adventure/trouble-seeker. Popularized through The Three Musketeers and other adventure movies including pirate movies. Now days only Pirates of the Caribbean are really relevant so most people think it means pirates.

The definition of swashbuckling is not specific to pirates, but the modern connotation is definitely tied up with pirates. That's mostly because the swashbuckling genre of films used to be much more popular and included things like Robin Hood movies and Zorro, but today the only swashbuckling movies that are still popular are pirate movies.
