2023-05-12 05:39:31 +0000 UTCI think the funniest part of the whole "how would you feel to always voice the villain" conversation is that Grey Griffin (Aluza) in fact does not voice Amity's mom according to behind the voices

2023-02-15 17:52:02 +0000 UTCJoshua Fagan is a Philosophy B.A. (M.A.?) who does GREAT insight, so here's an old take on Amity's 💜 feelings for Luz. BE CAREFUL NOT to scroll thru his recent uploads til' after U finish S3 of #TOH, or you'll see spoilers https://youtu.be/urnMnrQC6k8

2023-02-14 19:54:23 +0000 UTCThis discussion is a great example of two types of people: one who are *actors* and love taking on complex and juicy characters or even hamfisted villains because those are the really fun roles you can really go to town with, and people who are like I couldn't even act mean to someone for a scene, I would feel bad about it too much.

2023-02-14 06:51:46 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favorite episodes to watch people react to. It's easy to forget how many big moments happen in this episode until you watch somebody else watching it for the first time.

2023-02-14 05:11:41 +0000 UTCI love the fan art 🎭 of Luz dreaming about Amity's 💜 "MY LUZ" salvo 🎺

2023-02-14 00:34:46 +0000 UTCI don’t know about u Montana, but if someone constantly had me play a awful, scum of the earth character cus of my voice, I’d be proud

2023-02-13 20:53:58 +0000 UTCThey’re kind of a lot like Luz and Amity, imo. Kenny’s a cheery, brown haired, bisexual nerd with ADHD like Luz. Montana is a cool, more secret nerd with a complicated parent relationship growing up and who’s now living her best life.

2023-02-13 19:46:25 +0000 UTCSo at the end of Season 1 Dana Terrace did a Reddit ama (ask me anything) on The Owl House subreddit. Someone asked about Luz’s obliviousness to Amity’s feelings and this is what Dana said: “Luz is a little bit of a bonehead. Very relatable. That being said Luz has been so distracted with Eda's curse it makes it hard to see what's right in front of her. “Some clarity! I'm not at all calling Luz stupid. I actually see her as a very bright and quick thinker, but also young and still figuring life out. Something I personally related to, especially at 14. In this particular situation there's so much going on in her life she's oblivious to some things in front of her.” Anyway, my interpretation of things is that, in season 1, Luz wasn’t allowing herself to consider having a real crush or getting into a relationship because she was focused on Eda’s curse and also she knew she’d have to return home soon. But now Lilith is sharing the curse with Eda, and Luz is stuck in the Demon Realm indefinitely. On top of that, we know Luz is a huge romantic and a fan of big gestures, and Amity just heroically rescued her from certain death by fighting off a powerful monster and standing up to her terrifying mother, all while wearing a cool cloak.

2023-02-13 18:53:07 +0000 UTCFun fact: this was the first episode of The Owl House that I ever watched. I first heard about this show on a sapphic blog site that had a list of shows with wlw characters. So I went in knowing about Lumity and this episode happened to be the one most recently aired. When I saw that both characters were in it I just decided to watch it and see where their relationship was at. My first impressions of some things was so wild, namely Eda and Lilith. I assumed they were like the aunts from Sabrina, and that they had been that way throughout the whole show. I mean, they kind of are now that they’re on the same side, and King is actually a lot like Salem now that I think about it…

2023-02-13 18:47:46 +0000 UTCWhen I first saw this episode I was also convinced that Odalia was voiced by Azula’s va. So I love that they launched into a minutes-long discussion that started about Grey Delisle being type-cast as a villain, and the voice actor they’re hearing isn’t even her! And even though Azula might be Grey’s most memorable character, I think she’s more often than not cast as a hero—for example she’s been the main voice of Daphne in Scooby Doo for like two decades now—or a quirky side character—like Madam Razz, or approximately one third of the background characters in this show.
Jenny D
2023-02-13 18:40:42 +0000 UTCIf it’s the character I think you’re referring to, they’ve already appeared in the show. And yeah, throughout season 1 especially Grey has so many background voices. The booger kid, the photo class teacher, the ghost that pops out of the crystal ball.

2023-02-13 18:35:44 +0000 UTCMontana, lemme tell You, I'm nearly 50 years old, and Still can never shake the dark imprints from childhood & resentment re: my Dad, even though he's 77, retired in El Salvador 🇸🇻 and battling Parkinson's Disease. Present or not, some things people have created in our existence one can never forget, so I hear You....and Dana Terrace really is a master at pulling on your heart ❤️ 🧵 strings. (Remember Tiny Nose 👃 in S1 E1? "Self-doubt is a prison you can never escape from"), but she also portrays character moments that can give us Hope, just as we saw with Amity here. CHIN UP MONTANA____You've got an awesome 😎 partner in Kenny, and plenty of support from both The Owl House Community and your Patreons! "Letts.Go.Montana"! Cheers 🥂 from Connecticut (a.k.a. Luz's home state).

2023-02-13 18:21:41 +0000 UTCOdalia is voiced by Rachael MacFarlane. There is a character voiced by Grey DeLisle, but they appear later on in the series. She also voices several background characters.

2023-02-13 17:42:53 +0000 UTCKenny is correct. A lot of voice actors LOVE playing villains. Some time watch a video of Mark Hamill talk about playing the joker. He loves paying the villain. Especially in cartoons villains get to have a better range.

2023-02-13 16:22:25 +0000 UTCAlador did ask his wife if she was going too far with what they were doing to Luz so he was very passively making a stand there before taking a bigger one at the end

2023-02-13 16:10:09 +0000 UTCWil Wheaton these days often get cast as a terrible person and his motto is "don't be a d, but you can play one on tv". Most people who get type cast as thugs either are the nicest people ever or are perfect examples of method acting, no middle ground. Also I had to look up bit while Grey is in this show a lot she's not Odahlia.
