Dear Patrons,

Hope you're doing well! It's been a month that has felt both like an eternity and like it's gone by in a flash! It's been filled with back-and-forths between Viborg and Copenhagen and has encompassed the whole Viborg Animation Festival underway! It was so great to see so many familiar faces again and enjoy some good wholesome animation. And, I gotta say, quite therapeutic. It's nice to get out of the usual production bubble and be reminded that there's a whole cool world out there.

THIS MONTH'S PREVIEW:

A very abstract scene for you this month! - and one that I'll be very interested in seeing come together with final sound... Right now it's a audio mirror of the scene where Zale enters the ruins, but the music plays in reverse and the soundscape starts turning subjective. I really want to keep playing with that.

I actually did an early comp test for one of the shots in this scene. I think it's kind of interesting to see it side by side with the new one. You can really see how much decision-making you can still make in the compositing stage to push for one feeling or the other. In this case, it was always meant to end up rather muted. At this point in the episode we are nearing the height of de-saturation. So although I love myself some warm colours, for the sake of the overall story, the comp has to comply.

EPISODE 3:

Episode 3 is... progressing! There's not actually that much else to say. Although it was a busy month with other stuff, the numbers have been moving steadily up.

It's a bit of mix between easy and tricky shots left. There's one big layout that's going to be... "fun" to figure out to do in a way that my computer can handle. It's nothing new, but it's been a little while since I dabbled in those big backgrounds. And then there's one looong windy 3-characters shot that needs to be cleaned up, which will really test my patience. The rest of the shots left are pretty par for the course. I don't dare hope where we'll be at progress-wise by next month's update, but I'm pretty sure we'll reach my goal of being "done" with the visuals by the end of the year!

TV-SERIES DEVELOPMENT:

Well, it's been a busy month, but not so much in this regard. We've had some meetings, and are going to follow up on the strategy and plan in the coming week, but it seems to me like the time horizon is going to be pushed out a bit. It's at a point where I may have to leave it in the producers' hands for a little while and look to keep my hands busy with other work (once I'm done with the web-episode) in the meantime. I do still have some tasks at hand. Because of this change in strategy, it's time for me to go over the English-language version of the pitch bible again. And I just had my last Open Workshop consultation about the episode synopses I've been working on. They are really starting to feel on-point, but there are still a few adjustments to be made. I've just been keeping my head down and working on production as of late, but it'll soon be time for me to go into writing-mode again!

ROUND-UP:

It feels a bit like there's an era-change on it's way. How fast it'll go is hard to tell, but as I am rounding off loose ends I can't help but to wonder what kind of chapter the new year will be. For now, my mantra is "one thing at a time". First, I finish this web-episode, then we see what else is in store!

See you all in... November!? Gosh, time is flying by!!

Oh wow. Was not expecting this to get so abstract like that. I love things like that.
