nah bc we've established that Light made a genius move by swapping the death notes, but another reason the swap was useful was bc the REM note was the one passed around by the task force. as soon as Light found out shinigami could be killed, he immediately thought about putting Misa in danger to kill Rem, but he couldn't pull it off at that time. he specifically used the Rem note for the task force because 1) he meant to kill Rem anyways so it didn't matter if the task force knew Rem, BUT 2) he also didn't want to risk Ryuk being the one seen and heard by them (quite possibly for the rest of their lives). as far as we know, there's no way to take it back, once someone has touched the death note without being the owner - except for the shinigami dying. Rem was the sacrificial lamb, not only to "save" Misa (killing L) but to protect Ryuk (and Light's scheming with him). bc let's be real, if the task force could see Ryuk following Light around and laughing his ass off whenever something did/didn't go according to Light's plans, suspicions would rise real quick.

2024-11-16 17:24:52 +0000 UTCI personally only ever rewatch the series to this point. This is because I was a Kira supporter through and through. But I also love L as a character. If Light was going to lose in the end it should have been to L, not a far less interesting version of him at the end of a sub-par second half to the series. As someone who rooted for Light, it pisses me off that Light lost, not because he lost, but because of who he lost to.

2023-12-15 04:33:26 +0000 UTCAlso my own personal theory as to why L kept dragging on the 'light is Kira' and didn't explain his reasoning to the others (because I'm positive he could've convinced them if he explained how and what) is because he came to like Light since they're on the same level of genius and if he "caught" kira he would no longer have that brain stimulus from working against Light I also know a TON of people who stopped watching after this episode because they were like "what's the point"

2023-11-10 21:43:25 +0000 UTCSo this is like my, 5th? 6th? time "rewatching" this show and I JUST NOW realize the double reason of Light saying the useless pride and get rid of it line, because I also thought he was just trying to sneak those words in but nO Light knew he would act different and possibly plead to L so he gave a reason for him to suddenly act strange 🤯

2023-11-10 21:38:41 +0000 UTCI feel like with l being blue and light being red, both have similar personalities, but their outlooks contrast completely. masuda comes across as a human, someone thats in the middle, not all good and not all bad, but thats just my take, havent really fleshed it out much
