2023-05-09 16:52:25 +0000 UTCWe’ve seen Denji act very childish (Kicking Aki in the balls, saving the magazines, his motivation to touch boobs) We’ve seen him act serious and resourceful (working as a devil hunter, selling body parts to pay the debt, fake “eating” the cigarette) And we’ve also seen him dip into instability/insanity when he fights the Zombie Devil What do you make of Denji’s varying behavioural patterns? Do you think it’s somewhat just a lack of maturity, or do you think there’s more depth beneath the surface?

2023-05-08 15:21:57 +0000 UTCA lot of fans have said that Denji’s character arc is pretty much an ascent up Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, are either of you familiar with that psychological concept (I imagine Montana is)? If so, how closely do you think Denji is mapping to it so far? Having read a lot of Fujimoto’s work, I think he tends to go for these more grounded motivations (personal fulfillment, safety and security, intimacy and love, etc) for even some of his most grandiose characters and villains. It’s something that’s always stuck out to me in his work compared to many other anime where characters have more high minded or abstracted goals.
