When Things Take a Little Longer

I always try my best to get a song out within a week.  It definitely takes the whole week to do what I'm doing right now with having a family and another job on the side to keep things stable.

But sometimes things happen and I struggle for perfection.  Last song was a bit crazy.  I figured "Oh Patience, this one's gonna be so easy".  But as I was learning it, I noticed one thing building up after the other.  First of all I was wanting to get everything note for note and felt myself listening for every open string that Slash was hitting.  Then it was realizing, oh wait, there's another guitar in the mix behind that solo now.  Then it was, "Well, I can't just BS the guitars in the background, this is TAB we're talking about here.  They have to be note for note also.  Or pretty damn close".  So that's why there's a ballpark area of what the other guitars are doing in the Guitar Pro file I have posted.

Another thing that came up was...  trying to record the instruments through the input jack.  Nope, that didn't work out.  It sounded translucent (I guess that's the word I'm looking for).  It would have served as something just "good enough" to get my point across but I'm not a fan of "just good enough" especially these days.  I then tried mic'ing the backing guitars with a Shure sm57 and nope...  that didn't satisfy me.  Oddly enough, Sure Beta 58 done the trick.  I felt it would be great for the picture of the video to then record the leads with a condenser microphone.  

So long story short, a bunch of things came up just for that one video alone that was unexpected.  And to sum it all up, if I'm releasing a video, it has to meet the expectation 10's of thousands to potentially millions now.  

Thank you so much for being supportive and I just wanted to say that if there is ever a delay with a video, it is not because I'm sat around doing nothing or wasting time or anything like that.  It's because I may very well be tweaking something here or there or trying to get something right so it lives up to expectations.  When I go over a week working on a video, I noticed that views go down on the channel and that can be tough.  I'm hoping that this leads into something that's full-time that will allow stability.  Therefore I can perhaps get more than one song out per week!
