Growing up in the 90s, Soundgarden were one of my favourite bands, and I'm so glad to dive deeper into this one and find little nuances I had previously glossed over. There are some quick chord changes in the main riff that I hadn't picked up on before. 30 years later, I'm still discovering things in these songs!
In measure 2 before the change to the A5 chord (7th fret), there’s a quick change back to the 12th fret. Also, before the 3rd fret power chord in measure 3 (F5), there a quick change to A5 (7th fret).
When I learned this song back in the day, I had left those 2 chords out and played it much more simplistic.
As well, I didn’t know how to play Kim Thayil's awesome guitar solo - it had seemed too much like a chaos of D minor pentatonic notes at the time. Totally cool to get this one down note for note! This definitely opens up the door to doing more Soundgarden in the future.
