COMMUNITY Q&A - APRIL 2022
Added 2022-04-04 12:22:24 +0000 UTCHi Friends, welcome to the February Q&A!
In the comments of this post, I encourage you to post any questions you may have regarding producing - questions about sound design, mixing and mastering, organization, etc. Towards the end of the month, I will make a video going over as many questions as I can and demonstrating the answers for you all.
For example - say you just can't get your muddy-sounding kick to sit right in the mix. Feel free to ask me how I process mine, and I will show you exactly that. Another example - say you are struggling to get -4 LUFS out of your tracks. I will give you some tips to help you progress towards that standard. A final example - say you are curious how I made the bass sound in "Pack a Punch". I will do my best to explain that process to you!
This post is open to the public, so you don't have to be a patron to leave a question, though the video will be for patrons only. Ask away - I'm excited to begin this process to help you all!

hey buddy - my apologies as I recorded this video earlier in the week so I did not answer in the video. To answer your question here though, i do not really have any unique ways that I use disperser, but I can tell you that the main time I opt to use it is when I have a gritty sound that needs cleaned up a bit. Disperser does a great job of adding a little bit of smoothness to really otherwise harsh sounds. I use it most on bass growls!
2022-05-01 00:25:16 +0000 UTCWhat’s up coach! Do you have any unique ways that you like to use disperser? When are the main times you reach for it?

2022-04-28 16:32:37 +0000 UTCwhere do you buy/download the songs you use from other artists in your sets and mixes? i’m trying to find a reliable platform.
2022-04-24 12:13:17 +0000 UTC1. What's the best music production tip you ever received? 2. At what point in your career did you feel that your music had reached a professional level and what are the best practices that led you there?
2022-04-22 17:54:19 +0000 UTCSo that Own The Night song that just came out was fire btw, but the vocals you put in had me thinking, so how do you go about doing a Collab? does someone hold the mixdown project, and the other send stems over google drive? How do you decide technicals like whos sidechain technique or whos master chain to use? Any insight would be cool
2022-04-22 17:52:04 +0000 UTCWhat's your opinion on scaler 2 ? And does it make sense to cut the sub out of snares ?

2022-04-11 17:51:33 +0000 UTCHow do you get better at sound selection, or how do you go about choosing sounds for a song? I have a lot of presets, but I can never seem to find the right sounds to use or sounds that mesh well together for my intros, etc. Thanks!
2022-04-11 16:20:34 +0000 UTChey coach, so ive been using the mastering rack for alittle but lately ive been turing it off because LEC has been changing and takeing out my kicks punch in the mix. Im curious how you use LEC and retain the true sound of the kick.

2022-04-10 13:59:57 +0000 UTCfinding vocals is so hard
2022-04-10 00:14:50 +0000 UTCNot a producing related question: How do you manage and store your music as a DJ, do you have it all stored in dropbox, a harddrive or something else? I struggle to find an optimal way of storing the music I buy, across computers and devices. I use mixed in key and rekordbox for making the tracks ready for CDJs. Do you have any good advice on this topic?
