I briefly thought I remembered M.A.N.T.I.S. but it turns out I was thinking of Manimal

Didn’t Jeff give a positive review to Downsizing? That was terrible. With a few exceptions my taste almost always aligns with Jeff so that was an interesting “one which they don’t get”

Probably because he’s a Marvel zombie from way back.

Yeah, so strange. It definitely recontextualized some of his films for me in a way that makes me uncomfortable

Any thoughts on all the news that’s come to light about Baker?? Follows LibsOfTikTok, wokemindvirus, Jordan Peterson, RFK, Melania Trump, a bunch of zionist accounts including the IDF and apparently some underage OFs accounts. And he was caught liking several pro-Rittenhouse tweets before twitter went private.
If true, find it weird that he keeps making movies about marginalized groups where he puts them through the ringer physically, emotionally, mentally when his politics are so right leaning.

Dave
The movie that needs a remake. is a modern telling of 'The Love Bug' do it again. Do it all with no CG.
Disney released a trailer for the original, and it made me need to go watch it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn3gK27HIsw

I'm surprised there was no talk about the fact that Red Hulk is clearly played like it's a huge twist in the movie, despite the fact that he's been in every single trailer and poster for months. I think spoiling that in the marketing did a huge disservice to the movie, and it would have been a fun surprise instead of everyone sitting around waiting for it to finally happen, only for him to appear briefly and fizzle out in minutes at the very end.

Listening to Jeff talk about the movie sounded like he was giving it a C-, but he liked it? I'm confused.

I would really like an “A Few Good Men” Lega-sequel that centers around the Demi Moore character.
She was always the better defense attorney than Tom Cruise’s Daniel Caffey who wanted to sell out his client the majority of the movie. Would be an interesting insight into modern women in the military.
Compelling courtroom dramas are few and far between these days as are compelling military dramas like we had in the 90s. Bring them back!
Ride the Demi/Substance wave even further!

I couldn’t believe the Drasa character even for a moment. She seemed completely reliant on obtaining a man the moment she arrives at the Gorge and there was nothing to suggest this about her character before that point. The first time she writes a message to Levi I was completely out of the movie. Are they a couple of 13 year olds because that’s how they came across. Could they not have made the leads at least somewhat real to life and not fantasy characters

Oh, David.
David, David, David.
The Gorge is not good. It is not close to good. But it does suffer from a mismatch of the material to the cast and what passes as marketing for Apple TV productions. When I see you cast these two big time actors and they are staring at me from the splash page with grim resolve I’m expecting you to take the rest of the movie pretty seriously. This is Frank Grillo material at best.
And I like B movies! So glad Jeff brought up the green screen. It had our household literally laughing out loud. Add in some creature physical effects that would be right at home in the Buffy tv show, and you are in the ballpark.
I’d say if you want to watch two attractive people interact with what I agree is good chemistry, don’t mind keeping your thumb on the FF button for some of the nonsensical, unnecessary, but constantly interrupting, and pace-killing exposition, and perhaps have access to edibles, this movie could be a good time.
In the end, it is impressive that they made a movie. It did give me a lot of unintended laughs, had a couple nice romcom moments, and showed these actors can do this kind of material very well.

The only three films I've seen in the last three months I've liked were Anora, Nosferatu and Nezha 2. I've given up on the MCU since Thor 4....

Unfortunately there is a do the right thing sequel. Spike brings back Mookie and Tina as the parents of Anthony Ramos’ Mars Blackmon in the second very clunky season of She’s Gotta Have it on Netflix.

Set Knight Rider in a cyberpunk future. Make the 80s tech and character the hook and challenge. Underpin it with technophobic messaging about the advancements of AI and the importance of human to human/human to machine relationships, as well as the moral dilemma of using fossil fuels in order to fight crime/be a better person. Boom

A few months ago I asked the guys what was the worst piece of media given a positive review by the other hosts. I said that for Jeff it was Netflix Dracula, for Devindra it was Matrix Resurrections, and I didn’t have one for David. Now I do (The Gorge).
