COMMUNITY Q&A - FEB 2022
Added 2022-02-21 16:26:00 +0000 UTCHi Friends, welcome to the February Q&A!
In the comments of this post, I encourage you to post any questions you may have regarding producing - questions about sound design, mixing and mastering, organization, etc. Towards the end of the month, I will make a video going over as many questions as I can and demonstrating the answers for you all.
For example - say you just can't get your muddy-sounding kick to sit right in the mix. Feel free to ask me how I process mine, and I will show you exactly that. Another example - say you are struggling to get -4 LUFS out of your tracks. I will give you some tips to help you progress towards that standard. A final example - say you are curious how I made the bass sound in "Pack a Punch". I will do my best to explain that process to you!
This post is open to the public, so you don't have to be a patron to leave a question, though the video will be for patrons only. Ask away - I'm excited to begin this process to help you all!

2022-03-07 22:28:48 +0000 UTCWays I've found around this issue is to either 1. Copy the mp3 of the rendered track into a folder that you can then go onto your spotify, go to your library, open local files ( you have to allow local files in the settings first ), search for your song, then put it in a playlist. Always has sounded clean for me. Make sure you delete the old mp3 if you decide to mix the track more. 2. You could upload the mp3 to a draft email and its just as clean. Very weird but its effective!

2022-02-26 08:41:08 +0000 UTCIt`s kinda weird, I wanted to ask you about that maybe two or even three years ago, but then I just forgot or whatever. Never mind haha. How brave were you when you dropped the high school and decided to build your life with music? I mean, what thing could give so much confidence to do that and not to be scared at all besides? Sorry if I made any langiage mistakes, English is not my native, but I hope you got me right.
2022-02-24 16:36:14 +0000 UTCI guess he uses 32 bits + 44100 Hz with no dithering. Simply because all of his originally exported .wav files are all of ~55Mb size which is an average for 3-4 minutes long .wav file rendered using those settings
2022-02-24 16:19:19 +0000 UTCHow do you make tracks sound good when you export them to low bitrate streaming services like soundcloud? I've been hitting a -3.5 luf loudness but when I upload it to SoundCloud it sounds like hot garbage when I compare it to other streaming platforms. Just wanted to know how to mitigate all of the crappy Soundcloud compression.

2022-02-24 14:04:48 +0000 UTCLess of a question lol, but I'm also trying to get into blender and would be dope to see more 3D Blender tutorial stuff if your interested, like did you make those disciple videos for your last ep?
2022-02-23 19:21:59 +0000 UTCWhat are your rendering settings ? (Bit depth, dither, etc.)
2022-02-23 12:26:14 +0000 UTCOzone 5 through 9 do it if i'm not wrong :)
2022-02-22 09:44:43 +0000 UTC"Eq matching" how you approach referencing tracks and eq match them in depth , alternatives since not everyone has Ozone 5, maybe a newer version of Ozone or an completely different plugin?
2022-02-22 05:06:13 +0000 UTC(I'm french btw, might not be totally clear). First, thanks for everything you do, I feel like you have no idea how amazing and helpful this is. 1. How do you approach layers in general? How do you know a sound needs another layer? And how do you mix it so it fits with the first/ main layer? 2. About your mixing class (ex; -4 LUFS): Do the points provided apply to all genres? Are you looking for the same loudness if I decide to make a "Petit Biscuit" type of song, for example? Bonus question: What's the feeling when a legend plays your track in a big festival?
2022-02-21 22:51:37 +0000 UTCWhen first developing an idea how do you get the flow and feeling right for the song? Do you sound design to make the basses fit the flow or do you work from patches and sounds you already have and develop those into full ideas. Obviously it wont be the same every time but working from idea in my head to track is a struggle sometimes. Thanks a ton keep killing it dude
2022-02-21 21:32:33 +0000 UTCPredrop vocals have been a struggle for me to find/create. How do you approach sourcing and/or creating them yourself?
2022-02-21 19:01:19 +0000 UTCHow did you and CHRMNDRS make the basses in Ground Pound ( absolute slapper of a track, love the little Dark Room sounds as well )
