What's your take on the El 3ama controversy involving the old man?

Please feel free to elaborate in the comments! I will most likely discuss this topic next week, although I feel it may be too late. Still, it blew up over the last couple of days and I do want to give my take on it.

Ghayd is just whack

So a guy’s walking down the street with a gun. Of course I would start filming first as it is the only way to prove what happened. Letting someone face a camera while doing something bad can also sometimes persuade them to drop it. But this old man didn’t. Is he mentally stable? I sure hope he isn’t, but that doesn’t justify letting him shoot at dogs on the street and just telling him to stop. Ghayd did exactly what any of us should have done. Also shall I remind everyone of the country we’re living in ? The police takes hours to respond to anything and the man HAD A GUN. Y’all can honestly shove your compassion up your ass this man deserved to be stopped and getting a little nick on the lip should be the least of our worries. The poor dogs being shot at should be our worry, and the fact that another old man came to interfere and tried to say “ teb ma khalas 7ello 3anno “ ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?!? And his excuse of killing dogs because they kill cats and ridiculous. I do not care about this man’s mental health, he was independent enough to be left alone to roam the streets with a gun, he can handle getting that gun taken from him.

I don’t love or hate Ghayd or the channel el 3ama so I think I can be objective here and focus on the purpose and some facts: 1- I just watched the end, I didn’t before it’s not as bad as in the comment (melodrama Lebanese forgetting priorities) 2- He refused to collaborate and refused to put the gun down. 3- The persistence is what can make anyone worry and react. 4- He is fine. What he needs is psychological support, which he got after this. 5- It's hard to judge in such situations what and how you would do/react. 6- The priority here is to stop such action and actually, finally, something is being done to fight our corrupted system that you can do whatever the F you want because you know this or that person to protect you from persecution. Which he said in the video more than once. 7- I personally don’t hurt a fly (literally, I save them from my cat) and might have given up and hope for the best. I have a weakness for elderly people but maybe that's also the issue and why Ghayd did the right thing. Sometimes you need guts and if you firmly believe it's the right thing, you keep on and try your best. 8- So many things passed through his mind, so many scenarios could have been written on how ideally it should have gone, but it's reality. It’s easy to judge. What matters is the follow-up, so I'd focus on his last wrap up video. I wouldn't be hard on Ghayd. 9- Neighborhood is safer with one less person marching around with a gun shooting innocent dogs. It can be anyone’s dog and I wouldn't want my dog hurt for any reason, so imagine a dumb one. 10- Neighborhood is safer because gun’s accident is no news! If someone passes at the wrong time… 11- I’m actually sad to see votes going the other way, again forgetting priorities. 12- Filming is one of the greatest weapons. Of course, he’s going to film, no matter the initial purpose, it gets things done. 13- Why Lebanon feels hopeless sometimes. 14- We all should have some balls, maybe I can return to my country and live safely and happy with my family, friends and animals.

here’s my two cents on this: if someone really had good intentions and wanted to help, the last thing they would have done is to rush to film this entire circus since the very first second. It would have made some sort of sense if he decided to start filming once the man resisted giving up his pistol but the fact that Ghayd’s (in additional to thousands of other “creators”) first reaction is to film for social media clearly tells me he’s only looking to create content, cheap one at that. I really dislike how we’re at a time where people’s automatic reaction is to pull their phones out and start filming instead of actually helping/doing good without chasing social media clout. Final thought, the reason why I went on about this a little longer than I should have is because Ghayd always fucks up on social media, he tries so hard to paint himself as someone who does more than just comedy but truth is political and social activism are not and never will be his thing. El 3ama!
