Aight, y'all. You're getting a sneak preview hint at what this series is all about.
The Docks' was the old nickname for The Boondocks. On the old website, Boondocks.net. Or, if you wanna go even further back, Hitlist.com.
This is the original image Aaron drew of the cast and crew.

And, just for y'all I'll fill you in on all the little bios, and sketches. Week by week. Interestingly, some of these things manifest themselves in the series even till' this day.

Name: Huey R. Freeman
Age: Youngster
Place of Birth: Chicago, Illinois
Political Philosophy: Black Nationalism
Huey Freeman is the young radical, scholar, and philosopher who is the central character of the story. He carries a hefty bookbag, an eternal scowl, and a great deal of scorn for his new neighborhood - yet attempts to channel his energies in a postive manner. When not running around trying to keep his little brother Riley out of trouble, he can be found either reading or practicing Tai-Chi in the peaceful serenity of "Ghetto Hill".
Aaron ran this site, so this is how I know Huey was a black nationalist. Interesting tidbits from this is that Huey's middle name starts with an "R" and the tree he goes to in the comic strip and show is called "Ghetto Hill." I don't like the name cause' it's too on the nose, but oh well. I'm glad they never said it.
And as an added bonus.

Look! Huey playing kickball dated all the way from 1998! Or baseball...? It's still a cool callback, regardless. It's also interesting to note that Huey was always supposed to be this cynical character with an eternal scowl.
But, what I find most interesting is how much McGruder's artstyle changed. In the early hitlist days, his artwork was so rounded. But, when it came down to syndication, his characters got more rigid and stiff. I can only attribute this to time, and Aaron not having the time to make the strip look good. Such a shame too. He was a pretty competent artist, if you were to ask me.
THE HITLIST COMIC STRIPS

That's all for now, folks!
I gave y'all a lot today. But, that's only cause' I wanted to give you guys something to look forward to. There's way more interesting information about The Boondocks that I uncovered, and I can't wait to share it with all of you.
