For a few people it was obvious, but for those who don't know. Off The Record's look took a heavy influence from The World Ends With You's aesthetic, as I felt it fit the tone of what I was trying to do.
The transitions were inspired by Parappa The Rapper, and Jet Set Radio for the loading screen and record scratches. The theme song used at the beginning is from a game with the same composer, Bomb Cyber Funk.
I personally just find it incredibly interesting how easy it is to interweave different elements of video games into something that feels "black" or as some in the comments said "didn't deviate from that Boondocks feel" yet video games, as a medium are still pretending like it'd be impossible to implement black people prominently.
